If like to hear more about this. One thing I am a little paranoid about is anytime I have to call AT&T for anything, some customer service drone will click a button that cancels my unlimited plan.

I will think I kept it, then look online and it shows a capped plan. I go back to the physical att store and they add it back on. Has happened 2 times.

I got rid of mine about a year ago. Wanted to be able to use my phone as a personal hotspot in a pinch. I also checked my past data usage for the past two years and realized I never hit 2GB of data in a month, so came to the realization that I did not require unlimited.

I added my parents to my plan and now use group data share. Have 6GB between the three of us and they are very light users.

I did but I realized I wasn't gaining anything by keeping it. In theory it's unlimited, but AT&T has told me on various occasions that even though it's unlimited, they throttle you once you hit 3gb data usage. Plus by being on unlimited I had to pay an extra $20 a month for texting and I couldn't use my phone as a hotspot.

I switched to the 4gb/unlimited voice/text plan and it ends up being cheaper. Now, I have more than enough data for my usage and unlimited everything else and I can tether.

That was true before but no longer isn't. Att has spent billions on upgrading their network lately and they can now handle some unlimited users going at it.

Source : my unlimited plan and crazy usage.

Yes, most people have unlimited. Oh wait, sorry, most people do not have unlimited.

Seriously, how people expect questions like this to be answered?

It is very common actually, only people that got rid of them were probably customers who were on family plans and switched to mobile share accounts. I know like 5 of my friends with unlimited plans...

I am actually considering dropping mine for a Mobile Share plan though. My wife doesn't have unlimited and together we rarely exceed 3GB. The 4 GB plan would be cheaper, give us unlimited talk and tethering, and I could add a hotspot/iPad if I wanted.

Plus my employer pays part of my "data plan" and I think I can get them to pay more with the Mobileshare plan.

I have both Verizon and att unlimited. Losing unlimited on att isn't a big deal for most people.

But giving up unlimited data on Verizon is a different ball game. Some peeps use 100-300gb. Yes GB of data with lte on Verizon and there is nothing Verizon can do about if cause they aren't allowed go throttle lte per FCC block c agreement.

Yes those peeps switch Sims and use a Verizon midi device and essentially use it as a wireless router.

I did until yesterday. When I ordered the phone I changed the data plan to the 3GB for $30, though I had the option to keep the unlimited for $30. I only did so, so that I could FaceTime over cellular.

Losing the "unlimited" wasn't a big deal for me since I'm almost always on wifi and generally don't even use 500MB in a month.

You can FaceTime while on the unlimited plan. AT&T relented. I have the unlimited plan and can make a FaceTime call over cellular.

It can't be that hard to get it back. He can say something like the AT&T rep lied to him saying he needed to go on a tiered plan to get cellular FaceTime.

I could, if I wanted to, but honestly, I do my best to not be a liar and I certainly wouldn't lie to get a data plan back.

Oh ok.

Btw. I meant no disrespect. Perhaps it sounded as such.

No worries; none taken. :)

still have mine. went from the original iPhone, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and now my iPhone 5. added my mom onto my family plan after the 3GS and fiancé just last night for the 5S. no changes to my unlimited data plan. both my mom and fiancé have the 3GB plan for $30/ month as do I pay $30/month also.

I still have my unlimited but I would think they are getting rarer every year as many users have switched carriers or gone to one of the new family plans or wanted teathering.

I'll keep my plan as long as ATT allows then will have to consider my options. Right now the unlimited plan is the only thing holding me to ATT.

We have it on all 3 of our lines. Anytime we purchase a new iPhone we make certain we remain on our unlimited plans.

You could try chatting with the customer service people online and just telling them you made a mistake and ask for it back. (Thereby not lying.) You'd be surprised what they'll give you sometimes. I had a math error on a bill and then it got screwed up again when I changed markets. In the end they gave me 3 months free service without asking for anything other than "some kind of compensation."

All they can say is no.

Surprisingly I've found when dealing with AT&T the reps make a concerted effort to make sure I don't lose the unlimited plan accidentally. When I transferred markets the lady said, and of course we'll make sure to carry over your unlimited plan. Then she verified it like 4 times as she was doing things. All without me ever bringing it up.

Yeah, I could. But I made the decision to change yesterday and I have no regrets. I'm not seeking to get it back.

yea same thing last night. the guy at the store said don't worry, by added another line we will not mess with your unlimited data plan. that you will still have. didn't even ask but good they still take notice.

You should have kept it. LTE iPhones get FaceTime over celular w unlimited. There are rolling it out to lower ones too. I have it on my 4S since months ago.

I need unlimited, I did 8.2GB of data on my last statement. Sometimes you get bored at the hospital while working and streaming services are great, but suck a lot of data.

Jeez I had no idea. That makes Verizon's unlimited data pretty awesome. Even if you can't get an unsubsidized phone.
