It’s not silly. It’s a $1000 phone that doesn’t make….phone calls. Seems to me a fairly basic function. Of a $1000 PHONE.

this is also my second phone.

imagine needing to call 911 in an emergency. And it won’t make a call.
I’ve been doing calls left and right with no issue. Regular phone calls, FaceTime audio, Teams, WhatsApp. They all just work.

OP is exaggerating one or more of these claims.

The number of newbie accounts that tried to create 'heatgate' panic and were praising the new Google Pixel crap is telling.

Always look for the 'newbie' subtitle before believing anything. Ask for evidence.

That's the state of the web today. Corporations conducting information warfare on each other. So you can't believe what you read. You have to see it, hear it or feel it to believe anything.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say they won't engage with you on any troubleshooting. As posted above, the odds of what they claim being true, especially when there are no other reports of this issue on here / elsewhere online are miniscule. We see this every year: new phone comes out, newbies appear, post wild claims with no evidence, disappear. Same old same old.
It could very well be a legit post, just poorly conveyed. Here’s their other post from last week:

I have not personally used the dial pad recently, rather just clicked on existing contacts.

Imagine the millions of iPhone 15’s in use that don’t have your problems. Yeah it’s silly when people post drama don’t buy threads then poof disappear again shortly after. 2nd phone exact same problems, your carrier or configuration is the problem.

Keep in mind that on MacRumors, the label of "newbie" doesn’t necessarily mean a newly created account. It is a reflection of how many messages the account holder has posted, not how long they have been a member.

In the case of the OP, despite the account being labeled "newbie", they have actually been a member here since 2010.

Absolutely do not spend $1000+ on the 15 pro max. It has a bug that causes making a phone call practically impossible. You have to reboot the phone and you can make maybe one call before it freezes up.

Siri also doesn’t work. It spins and thinks and then shuts down. No amount of rebooting the phone will cause it to work.

Reinstalling the os does nothing. Wiping the phone and doing a fresh install does nothing. The newest update 17.0.3 does not fix the problem.

I have a case with apple. It’s in the hands of the engineers. So far….nothing.

i Don’t know if this happens with other models of the 15 but I know at least 5 other people who are having this problem with the pro max.

DO. NOT. BUY.

It’s a $1000 paperweight.
On other news some guy who posted 9 times in 13 years have more problems with one phone than the millions of other users put together. He has so many problems with his phone that he even forgot the price of it.

Total bs. Geezus man get a grip

I tried calling 911 a few weeks ago on my iPhone 14 Pro and it would not dial on Wi-Fi, even though it had been enabled and my address info entered correctly.

I finally disabled Wi-Fi and was able to place the call. I have a poor signal with AT&T which is why I use Wi-Fi calling in the first place and have never had issues calling other numbers over Wi-Fi for years.

Thankfully, when I disabled Wi-Fi the 911 call was picked up by another carrier’s tower, which they are mandated to do, and got the help we needed.

I don’t know who is at fault for the repeated 911 call failures, it could have been Apple or AT&T for all I know. I just know that it did not work when I needed it. Regular Wi-Fi calling has always worked before and after that moment though.

So many members here never had this problem and the OP happened to know five others having exactly the same issue? What are the chances of that?
Probably still higher than the inverse of the number of iPhones sold last week.

You getting a lemon doesn’t warrant a warning about buying the product altogether.

If this was a widespread issue with this generation of iPhones then obviously reviewers would be dunking on it and buyers returning it in droves.

Yes, the excessive heat caused by certain apps was a real thing.

But this notion that iPhones 15 are a step down in quality from previous years is just absurd.

It’s nearly identical to the last 3-4 generations of iPhone. No way there’s suddenly no quality control or a faulty design.

I’m sure you can return it if you’re not just trolling us.

Before making sensationalist claims like this, you may want to learn whether this is happening to all users, or just you. It is irresponsible to advise others not to make a purchase, only based on one anecdotal incident. Like millions of other users, I've made dozens of phone calls, perhaps over 100 in the short time I've had mine, and never experienced any of the problems you describe.

It is not a paperweight! Think before you post!
They gave me confined, I just cancelled my order
