Yep, me too. Just a reflex reaction to use my index finger to hit the lock button. How i hold my phone differently it'll take a little while to readjust, it's not a "design flaw" or "a problem" it's just human nature.

When human nature causes an unexpected behavior to happen to a carefully designed device (some would say the best designed in the world), then I think we all agree it's a design flaw or problem.

Isn't that really the definition of a design flaw?

Taking screen shots is a pain as well. Took me six tries before I realised first my thumb and then the crook of my palm were hitting the volume down button. Finally got it after adjusting my grip, but I wouldn't call it comfortable or intuitive. Honestly I wish they'd just left the switch at the top. I practiced hitting the non-existent button in various grips and scenarios, and didn't have a problem at all and it felt much more natural than the new setup.

I've finally kicked my habit of hitting the non-existent button at the top. It's just a bit of a learning curve to start using the thumb on the side rather than the index finger at the top and it feels very natural now.

I think this is done on purpose because you might wanna be trying to press the volume button instead of lock button? I don't know but I noticed too.

No, a design flaw would be having the sleep/wake button at the top of a phone that is too tall for the majority of users to press easily.

Yes, it's the one complaint I have about my new 6.

I'm left handed, which makes it even worse. Seriously, try holding it in your left hand and pressing the sleep button without also pressing the volume buttons, it's night on impossible. :(

I'm left handed also. It's a right handed world.

I've noticed that when I'm done use my 6, and want to sleep it, I accidentally press the volume buttons right before pressing the sleep button. This causes the sleep button to not sleep the phone, and you have to press it a few times to get it to sleep...

I know it's a minor thing, but I'm just wondering if anyone else found it slightly annoying?? I feel like it should still sleep the phone even if the volume button is pressed first.

ha ha... i just posted on other thread the same thing. Now I know i am not the only one! Feels better ;)

Rather than rest your thumb along the left side, encircle the bottom of the iPhone with it then you'll be able to hit the sleep/wake button with your left index finger without interfering with the volume buttons.

Likewise, right-handed users will have to get used to hitting it with the right thumb rather than the index finger.

But putting it on the side in a position that makes the majority of users erroneously (and simultanously) hit unrelated buttons when pushing it isn't a design flaw?

I've had the Plus since last Friday and this is driving me crazy. Tried to put the phone to sleep this morning while listening to music and ended up cranking it to max volume.

I'm going to try using Assistive Touch to lock the phone, worth a shot. I don't want the circle on the screen the whole time so will enable the triple home button click.

Seems like a lot of effort to put it to sleep. Maybe Steve had this all figured out from the beginning.
