Do you feel that SE is inferior product to the 6S?

I'm genuinely curious how we feel about this device. Its curious to see Apple to expand lineup with a significantly cheaper product, without majorly crippling the features (even better if they aren't charging ££ in addition to vat, for international sales). Perhaps its signaling more affordable iPhone 7.

However, despite the great price - I'm not sure if SE feels like a premium device? My feelings are mixed. It's a good compromise of a proven 5S model. Though if Apple wanted, they could have put in newer touch-ID, 6S's screen res, 5MP front cam, barometer, muli-channel WiFi, faster cellular, 3D touch, etc, but a bigger price.

Do you think it's good enough to stand next to 6S? Or can they not be compared directly? And does offering a decent product at a lower price level have to make it feel interior? Or is it just a bargain that will sell like hot cakes?

At this point, they lost me with the older Touch ID...

But the new Touch ID is too fast for some people....

No device will ever be able to be a perfect fit for everyone. But looking at the sales figures, there's clearly a massive market for an iPhone like this. I think the budget model tag is unfair as its not a 5C. This is just the new 4" phone in their lineup which happens to be cheaper than the larger-screened phones. Which kind of makes sense.

If by inferior you mean less features, well it is then inferior. To some it will be easy to do anyway as they are wanting a smaller phone. No me I use the 6S+ and can not ever see me going back to a 4" screen. Others have been waiting on this for a while now and glad Apple is making them happy.

It is there to do exactly what Apple wants, sell to those who want a smaller phone at a slightly lower price so they don't have to make drastic design changes to get the 4.7" screen phones smaller. This way Apple gets to keep having the worst screen to device ratio around while selling more phones!

I mean. In some ways, everybody feels that the 6s is inferior to the 6s+.. I think that its more of a psychological thing in relation to size.. Other than the Touch ID. It has everything that the 6s has.. It's a very relevant product at a great price. But apple has to give people a reason other than screen size for a person to spend more money..

Anything that isn't an iPhone 6S Plus will be inferior technically. As of now this is the only phone in the iPhone lineup that will deliver all of Apple's features on a phone.

I don't see the SE as inferior at all. Assuming that it has 2gb RAM it will be just as fast as the current flagship iphones. Many people seem to have a downer on the 1st gen touch id but I don't see how it's a problem. It will still do it's job just fine and it means the end phone can be cheaper. Also I don't really see the problem of the phone lacking 3d touch. I bought a 6S at launch and have rarely used 3d touch. The phone will still be perfectly usable without it.

It is different, like a 2-door, 2-seater car is different from a 4-door, 4-seater car.

Since I don't like the size or shape of the 6 and 6plus, those phones are inferior for my use.

The 1.2 mp frontfacing cam irritated me the most. They could have bumped it to 2 or 3 if they really dont want it at 5 mp. Bad for selfies and snapchats.

There needs to be parameters set around the term "inferior". If basing on specs alone and not on user preference:

- It does not have 3D Touch
- It does not have a Barometer
- Front facing camera is still 1.2mp
- Does not offer the 128GB model
- First iteration slower TouchID sensor
- No dual domain pixels
- No LTE advanced

I am not suggesting that any one of the things above should matter to anyone. Most don't need 128gb. Most likely don't even know what the barometer does or dual domain pixels are.

Edit. I originally said I thought at face value based on specs alone that compared to the 6S it's inferior. I've done a 180. It's not meant to be compared to any of the 6 line. On its own, packaged in that beautiful little style, it's a powerhouse. The only item I wish it included was the latest Touch ID. For those who prefer the 4" size I'm thrilled you are getting this badass at such a nice price.

Though keen to see if the audio quality is identical to 6S - I still prefer the older 4S sound signature.

I think it's an excellent little phone. I've been very happy with my iPhone 5 for several years now; no phone that's come out since has really made me want to upgrade, until the SE. I'm still not certain that I will upgrade to it; the 5 is still doing everything I need of it like a champ, but if I do, I'm glad that there's an excellent phone to upgrade to.

For the record, I'm a fan of the 4" form factor :)

Go find an iPhone 5c and play with that for a while.

Then come back and give us your opinion about inferior and/or cheap.

I finally found an Iphone, right-sized, full featured, to replace my 2010 iP-4. If its 1/2 as good and reliable as my 4, I'm good for another 5 years....
