Got one in gold 64gb LTE for my wife for Christmas. She absolutely loves it. She wanted something similar in size as her Tab 4 but that actually works as it should.

Good gift, glad she loves it. I tried those Android Tablets, but I've just never been happy with that experience. I went from a Mini 2 to an Air 2. For me this was a good move as the text on the Mini can be a bit small on certain apps. I did love the size of it though!

I have the mini ipad 4 for a month now and absolutely love it. At first, i thought maybe the screen will be a bit too small but its fine. Love the overall size of the table....Very easy to hold with one hand....2gb of ram, Great Screen and amazing battery life...Apple has hit a homerun with this tablet.

I know I've asked this before, but are you guys using cases on your mini's and if so which one? Cheers.

I, personally, believe that the mini is not enough of an enticing upgrade over the original mini (what I used to have) or the mini 2 & 3. The Air 2 looked like a more attractive upgrade from the get go, and not releasing the mini 4 with the same features (similar, at least) at the same time as the Air 2 hurt it, I think, as people wanted those great features at the time they were released on the bigger model.

Okay so having an 2GB of ram, a upgrade in cpu speed, Touch ID and a much better screen is not that big of a upgrade? smh

Not that big of an upgrade when all of those features were exclusively placed on the Air 2 at first, and they were not available on the smaller model at the time of major release (which a new mini was not released).

I have an iPhone 6S and an iPad Pro. I can't think of a situation where I would prefer something in between, not even once.

I agree. The Mini is too similar to iPhones and it's even slower... The Pro is a whole different experience with that screen size and keyboard.

It's not a big deal when the iPhone 6S came with a much faster A9 processor earlier in the year, as well as the faster 2-gen touch-ID and faster NAND. You are basically paying for year-old parts. I get that the iPhone is their marquee product, brings in the lion's share of the profits and so receives first dibs on the best tech Apple has to offer, but being an integral part of the iOS family, I wish the ipad would get the same treatment as well.

But you see, the iphone 6s is a phone. What's the point of comparing it to a tablet? When I decided to get a Mini 4, I looked at how it would meet my needs compared to other tablets. Even the plus-sized iphones are too small and lack the proper aspect ratio for comfortable web browsing (in my opinion, at least) or run genuine tablet apps. It doesn't matter to me if they have faster processors and touch ID if they don't/can't run the apps and provide the screen real estate that even the smallest iPad can, and for my use at least, I haven't encountered a situation where the Mini 4 feels slow or unresponsive. Nor has the extra half second that the Touch ID takes been an inconvenience.

I understand the "paying for old tech" argument, but I don't really agree with the sentiment. I'm paying for a device that is excellent within its class and meets or exceeds my expectations in actual usage. I think that people on forums like this one get too hung up on specs and numbers, which is ironic considering how high end Android devices usually have more impressive specs than their Apple counterparts.

To me, it's both.

iPads have a higher resolution than iPhones and are expected to run more powerful software. All other things equal, they should have comparable specs in the very least.

Specs will also determine how well they continue to perform after subsequent software updates.

I guess the iPhones monopolise all the parts, which doesn't leave any for the other devices.

Sadly, Apple has no reason to try to compete as much in the tablet market. It isn't just the fact that the iPhone gets first dibs. It's that there isn't anything that blows away the iPad in terms of performance. When Android gets better tablets, we'll see Apple compete.

The price is lower on the mini 4 than the iphone or Air 2. So they're probably trying to save some money on hardware to preserve their profit margin.

Well, the Air 2 was the first iOS device to get 2 GB of RAM and a Tri-core processor. Definitely better specs than the current iPhone at the time of its release. Does the mini 4 lag behind a bit in terms of the processor? Yes, but it's also less expensive while still performing extremely well. It's even been said that it has the best display of all current iOS devices.
