People with Apple Watches comment on faces and bands. People without almost always notice/comment on Apple Pay. You’d think it was common enough by now. . .

The Apple Watch has started several conversations with complete strangers who also have Apple Watch, especially when I was a new'er Apple Watch user. Fun to meet people who really like their AW just like I do. I've gone out of my way, since wearing the AW, to commend unique mechanical watches that I've seen and notice more now - the wearers have so far seemed happy to get the compliment.

Sums it up for me. Yeah.

Before the AW, I had one or two people compliment the $1200 Rado watch I used to wear (it was a beauty I would say.) Now I have the gold AW S1 ($219 sale at Target), with a black leather band with yellow stitching (~ $17 on amazon), I love the combo, and I've had about 10 other AW users compliment me on it.

Do you have a link to that strap by any chance?

Oh and I thought the topic of this thread was daft, I don’t know a single person who takes any interest in you because you have an Apple Watch.. but I find it more useful and cool then my Tissot T Touch.

I got a lovely Rolex for my 40th (8 years ago OMG!), but have worn an Apple Watch ever since April 2015.

I used to get looks and comments on my Rolex all the time, but no one notices (or at least says anything) about my AW unless as people have mentioned I use Apple Pay.

One good thing is that no one asks if it is real or fake :)

I’ve noticed this weird thing recently, before when I went to church people would pray to God

Now when I wear my watch, people say my name instead? Even more, this one time I was wearing my traditional watch and they went back to saying God... Coincidence?

I was at a training seminar on Tuesday night and there was approximately 75 attendees. Out of those 75, approximately 50 seemingly had a Apple Watch or some variant of a smart watch on. That’s how common smart watches are today, where nobody goes out of their way just to give anybody recognition for wearing An Apple Watch.

When the Apple Watch first launched back in 2015, they had a lot more of those who were generally curious about it, but three years later, its so widespread, they are literately everywhere and worn by anyone.

Funny as I haven’t noticed anyone else using Apple Watch, I can’t be the only one locally as I had to search various retailers to purchase SE1

I'm sure it varies by social group. A big chunk of my friends have them, and we are all connected on the Activity app to cheer each other on.
[doublepost=1524139146][/doublepost]My friends who have them are either really into fitness or really into Apple or both. Mostly it's about fitness. One of my best friends got his after we did a 5k together, because he liked how I could keep track of our pace.

In my office I know of at least 3 others with Apple Warches and another 6 or 7 people with FitBits or other smart watches.

So that’s another 10 people approximately wearing smart devices.

I would actually say that these days I see the most people wearing a device on their wrists that tells the time more then I ever saw anyone wearing a watch, and I would put that down to every man and their dog having a smartphone, and they wanting notifications and health / fitness tracking. Because these devices give people access to more functions on their personal phones no computer required.

I mean I liked the Apple Watch designs and wanted to have notifications on my wrist, and so far I’ve also used it to track my sleep, tell me when to stand and do breathing exercises plus use the exercise app when walking the dog, and use those fitness rings. It’s become a lot more then I ever thought!

Here's a link to an old thread with pictures of my watch with the band and the link:

Here's the direct amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0176EBR9U/

I need to buy a new one soon, my old one is getting a little worn after a year and a half, but more noticeable to me than anyone else.

Excellent point one of the few comments I recently had was from gym instructor “Is that one of those things” I then showed Apple Watch

My educators have one, my friends have one, my cousins have one, everyone has some gizmo on their wrist

Before I bought an Apple Watch, I was just a short, odd-looking English guy with bad teeth.

Apple Watch, overnight, turned me into a sexual tyrannosaurus, and I have now have to beat-off the ladies with a stick, all day and every day...

Thanks Apple Watch!

Damn, I mean for me at least the only thing I've gotten is worshipping me at church, but wow are you lucky! I think I'm wearing the wrong watch band, lemme guess, Hermes band you have?

I wore a Rolex for a year straight. Nobody noticed. I even gave someone the time when they asked. Nowt.

I pay with my Apple Watch. Discussion.

I have a real watch on my left and the Apple Watch on the right. Not so much of a collector anymore but I still take interest.

So there you go. The Apple Watch gets more interest than a Rolex. Money saved. I admit when I had the Rolex I admired the Apple Watch when I didn’t have one.

Win win.

No, they are extremely common now. Anyone who says the Apple Watch was surely going to fail is eating their words right now. It's particularly popular with restaurant servers, nurses, and others who are not allowed to pull their phones out at work.

Like others, I still do get a lot of notice when using Apple Pay. Most watch owners must not use that function, because busy restaurants that I frequently order takeaway from still aren't used to seeing it used that way.

But I'm sure in wealthier social groups, there would be some judgment cast on those wearing an Apple Watch as opposed to a $10,000+ Swiss mechanical watch. Glad I don't have to deal with those pressures.

Send them home to mine
Lol, they're on their way to you...

I have the White, Red, Black and Lime straps but it's the watch that the ladies admire, not the straps!!!

Only by the ex-wife. Last week, she blurts out "So when did you get that?". I pay no mind since she is wearing the Rolex that I bought her a couple of years before we were divorced.

This has been my exact experience (except with an Omega).

I also wear my real watch on my left hand, and AW on my right hand.
