I have one of those as well. Doesn't help that she smokes 15-20 cigarettes in our usual 8:30 to 5 shift, either.
Unbelievable.

And this person probably has no idea why they are sick and coughing most of the time.

the nose picker. you work in a cubicle, we can all see you digging deep.
How else are they going to mine their mineral resources? :p

Yes!!! THAT ONE TOO! OMG, I feel like going over there and smacking whoever does it. Like take care of that personal hygiene BEFORE you make it to the office.
I hate people who sit at the desk doing their personal hygiene.

In one office, we had iMacs, so the lady used iChat viewer to watch herself and put on makeup, adjust hair, etc. all day it seemed.

Our offices are right on Main Street and the township has put the benches along the street for passersby to sit and rest. Well, there's this old guy who sits on the bench out front of our office once in a while and watches traffic or people or whatever.

One day he said 'hi' to the News Director as he was coming in, and as soon as the News Director gets in the door he calls the police and tells them they need to evict this old guy and get him out of town (apparently, being friendly is an offense for some). The news guy refused to leave the office as long as this old guy was sitting out front minding his own business... occasionally he'd creep up to the front window and peer out to see if he was still there.

He's obsessive about other weird stuff too. He's the same man who jumps and down and has fits when I leave the keyboard off by a few inches (seriously!). Ah well. Makes life interesting, what?

Well if she was hot I wouldn't mind it so much.... :p

That's how I feel as well. If she was skanky AND ditzy, then there would be a problem, because some idiotically weak boss is going to let her get away with being incompetent due to her skanky appearance, and co-workers will have to suffer for it.

On the other hand, if she's good or great at her job, then having a hot or decent looking girl at the office who is a bit "showy" may make the day a bit more enjoyable.

LOL all she does is talk on her cell phone all day and cock an attitude with external and internal customers. So, the showy appearance wouldn't be acceptable.

Wonder how many of these posts were made whilst at work.....;)

Unlike my coworkers, I work an extra .5 a day to support my MR/Internet habit. ;)

I figure my smoking wench spends 45 minutes to an hour outside with a cancer stick hanging out of her mouth.

My God how I hate her.

I'm just jealous as my company is really harsh on non-work related internet browsing

Until I moved off-site onto a vendor's premises and beyond their reaches :D

I would have no problem with it as an employer. As long as my employees do their best job and take pride in their work, they can have fun while they are doing it. In fact, happy employees are the best employees. More employers should figure that out.

Having said that, I have to talk my employees through downloading email attachments. I'm in no danger of their abusing computer privileges!

Is she hot?

Exactly what I was thinking. Then I visualized a "Mimi" look that is all wrong.
Still, all told, I'd rather take the chance ;)

I work mostly from home, and cringe at the subconscious habits I'm forming that'll be out of place when I work on-site. That is, unless pants are optional these days.

Couldn't agree more (except when having to hold hands of employees when talking them through downloading an email attachment).

Yes, I have had annoying co-workers, (not many, and the world of teaching allows for a bit of mobility on campus; it's not quite the same as cubicle based indentured labour, I'll accept). However, inconveniences, miseries, (and suppressed rage, on occasion) imposed by bosses on power-trips far exceeds mere co-worker nose picking, or idling, or any of the other occasionally disgusting personal delinquencies posted on this thread. Nothing, but nothing, in my experience beats the misery of working for a power-mad control freak. An unpleasant habit in a co-corker can annoy or infuriate; whereas, a dreadful boss can ruin your life. On the other hand, as redwarrior rightly points out, a good boss can make work an absolute pleasure and happy workers are good employees. As a friend of mine observed, people don't leave companies, they leave bosses. Cheers.

Still a requirements in most places ... fortunately!
... not where I work!:D

I used to work for county government. I once had a judge threaten to put me in jail if I didn't get a computer system up and running by a certain date. The clerk of the court took the flack for me, thank God! It really did scare me.

Pics or it didn't ... err ... nevermind! :p
now, now, remember where you are.

Was s/he serious about it too?
Yes, he was an arrogant sob judge who thought he ran the world. I was the last person for him to talk like that to, because I killed myself to do everything I could to keep my users happy. The Clerk knew that and did what she had to do; I think she only spent a couple of hours in jail.

the guy who clips his nails at his desk.
i work with a young man that clips his nails in the office, except he does it with his teeth. *shudders* i think it's absolutely disgusting. i haven't decided if he spits or swallows and i'm not all that certain i want to know! i've also worked for the dreaded psycho boss/business owner. i've left two work environments due to hostile work conditions.

a wise co-worker once imparted to me her secret of maintaining sanity when it comes to the work environment.. she called it the three L's of wisdom: if you can't Live with it then Lobby to change it and if you can't change it then it's time to Leave.
