Check attached photo and you will see what's a slanted keys ;)

With all due respect, that photo was taken at an angle. Even if there is a slant on the keys, and I'm sure there is, that photo wouldn't really prove that a particular key is slanted. The middle key below your function keys is slanted also, for example.

Only problem so far is with the superdrive and its lack of "support" in burning for some cd brands (which I've googled and found is a problem with all macs?) - which is weird.
A couple of my keys *might* be slanted..I'm not really sure, a couple of them look to be off, ever so slightly - but I'd need a magnifying glass and a ruler to verify, hence I don't consider it a problem at all.
Since I've been on the forums continuously since the summer, waiting for the new release of the macbooks as I was in dire need of a new one - the waiting period + all the flaws continously listed on these forums just made me paranoid. I've had it for over a week now and I still can't tell if they're slanted so it doesn't matter if you ask me.
Battery latch is firm, no dead pixels, great machine imho.
Anyone badmouthing the design is a lunatic I think. I think the unibody design is really smooth and the curves are elegant. It's definetely eye candy. My house mate bought the HP dv5 series in the week I bought the mac and it looks like a toy compared to the mac. The HP is also a fingerprint magnet.
I'm a casual gamer so the only thing missing from it is a dedicated graphics card but I'm afraid I couldn't afford the pro :]

Not wanting to buck the trend but mine is perfect. Checked battery cover and its snug. No problems with the trackpad and the keys are all perfectly straight.

PS was on the fence about wether to go for the back lit one and in the end i decided that you dont buy a laptop everyday so i might as well. So glad i did this is my first laptop with backlit keys and it makes a huge difference for me. Can now work on it in dimly lit conditions and means i dont have to have the main light on in my room just to type an email.

????question????

Does anyone else hear a click when they open the new aluMacbook. It usually happens after I have had it closed for a while cuz if i try to replicate the noise right away it doesnt want to do it. It seems to come from the area right below the screen that looks like a black cylinder that connects the screen to the body of the laptop.

-I know its not really a big deal but it is still a little annoying.

Why Buy Apple? Are We Crazy?

No, we are not:)
Just got a AL Macbook:apple:

Well, is over a month old and 0 (zero) problems.
Amazing machine :)

Had a very bad dealing with Apple here. First MacBook had a very loose battery cover and slanty keys. Apple told me to go to Curry's to get it fixed... Then was told to have it exchanged for a new one after speaking to someone else. That didn't happen, got refunded for it instead so I had to place another order!

This MacBook thankfully has no issues with it. Am very impressed with it but Apple's QC and service needs improvement considering I am paying a lot more for this laptop compared to other laptop makes.

The new MacBook sucks. Get this --

I wanted to surf the web, but there was no FireFox open! I had to CLICK the icon!

I went to go grab my MacBook the other morning, and I wanted it to be warm to the touch, but it was cool! COOL to the TOUCH!

I was typing an email on it, and I made a spelling mistake! The MacBook PERMITTED me to make a spelling mistake! (it did notify me that I made a spelling mistake, but whatever)

I was going over it with a magnifying glass the other day, like I always do, and I noticed the edges were indeed perfectly straight .... but then with a microscope I noticed the edges WEREN'T perfectly straight!

I paid fifteen hundred bucks for this thing, I expect - nay, DEMAND - molecular perfection. If not, I'll take my business elsewhere. I mean, surely Acer, Compaq, Gateway or Dell will live up to this scrutiny, right?

funny guy... :D :p

part of the problem depends on which country you are in

1) the price difference to pc laptops - the apple factor/premium- seems to vary a lot by country/region- so peoples expectations will vary

2) the service level also does- for example I am in the USA - my local mac store has been excellent, my wife is in Philippines - where the mac store treats her like a queen - they even clean the macs for you when you go in - envy!, and some friends of mine are in the UK where the service seems to be patchy/inconsistent

Twisted body slanted keys

I have recently noticed that some of my keys are beginning to slant and it looks terrible, also the line on the body along the battery is not straight as if the body is twisted slightly i know it hasn't been dropped or miss used so could it be the heat? it may seem like a little thing but the reason i spend the extra money and buy apple is because i think they provide quality and this has really let me down does anyone know if this falls into the warranty for replacement? thanks for any help you's guy can offer,

warren.
