Do you think upgrading from an iphone 4 to an iphone 4s is worth it?

The iPhone 4s adds more than just Siri (which I never use):

Dual Core Processor
Vastly improved graphics performance
Up to 64GB Internal Storage
8MP Camera
1080p Video recording
Bluetooth 4.0 (Low power bluetooth)

For me, the biggest improvements are the 64GB storage and 8MP Camera which is good enough outdoors for me to leave the P+S at home

Went through the same decision process. Did not notice the speed at first, but one time a friend showed me something on his iPhone 4 and you will definitely notice the difference in speed.

Since you already have the iPhone 4, I'm gonna agree with others and say stick with the 4 until the next iPhone comes out. Unless you have a strange lust for Siri, I think you can wait a bit :p

As for me? After retiring my 3GS last year, I don't currently have an iPhone. When I was ready to upgrade, two things stopped me from buying the 4S:

1. The iPhone 4S didn't support T-Mobile US 3G/HSPA+ bands. I'm not gonna switch to Verizon/AT&T/Sprint and pay more when T-Mobile coverage in my area is perfect and super quick (this was the main reason I didn't get the 4S).
2. I was disappointed at only a "4S upgrade" rather than a "full iPhone 5" upgrade. I was looking forward to a nice redesign and something new.

Come this fall, if the next iPhone supports full T-Mobile data speeds, then I'll buy one in a heartbeat.

Another vote for sticking with the iPhone 4. I went from the 4 to the 4S and in hindsight, it probably wasn't such a good idea to upgrade. To me, I don't really see the difference between the 4 and 4S. Sure, the camera is better, but if someone placed a series of photos in front of me, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. As for speed, yes the my 4S was much faster. Key word is "was". All iPhones begin to slow down after a few months. So, at this point, my 4S is likely the same speed as my 4. Siri? What's Siri. I never use it. Just because there are alternative ways to do things doesn't mean one is better than the other. As for network speed...network speed is a function of your carrier's local network, not the chip in your phone.

I will say that I am much happier with 64 GB than 32 GB.

But, I'll be selling my 4S when the 5 comes out. To me, the 4S is very underwhelming. My wife keeps yelling at me that we had to "upgrade" to a phone we already owned. The average cellphone user will not be able to tell them apart.

I have a 4 and I'm happy with it. The 4S is more of a speed upgrade, and isn't really targeted at us anyway. Likely waiting for the iPhone 5 and a redesign, though I love the design of the 4, but that's the only real way I will upgrade my phone.

I think that all depends on how you use your iPhone 4 and how much utility it has to you. You can get a lot of advanced functionality and performance from jailbreaking and unlocking your model.

I never had an iPhone before the 4S but expect it to be a worthy resale in the future because it can be bought by someone on almost any carrier to use.

It's cool but not worthy of wondering about. You'll be so much happier when your contract runs out and you get a full upgrade.

I don't. My 3GS broke several weeks before the 4S came out. Even though I knew the 4S was around the corner, I needed a new phone and I needed it then so I went ahead and purchased. The 4 does everything I need it to do so I went with the 4. I am happy with my decision.

I have a 4 and won't be upgrading to the 4s. It's just an upgrade to an already amazing peace of hardware. I want the better camera and faster hardware but can wait till the 5 is released. I'd rather wait for the 5 because i'm hoping for a larger screen. Also I don't want to spend my upgrade and be locked in to a 2 year agreement for minor upgrades.

The iPhone 4 will be the longest i've ever held on to a phone and that's okay with me :)

I am aware it adds more than just Siri and that it is an upgrade in many areas like the graphics, the camera and Dual Core Processor. What I am saying is that people are constantly talking about Siri and how they upgraded from an iphone 4 just for Siri. I tried to convince many people not to upgrade and wait for the iphone 5 but they are too caught up in wanting to have Siri.

I think having an iphone 4 is good enough for the moment until another iphone comes out. I understand the people who say they got an iphone 4s because they had a iphone 3g and it was quite a big upgrade for them because the iphone 4s is a lot faster then the 3g and if that is the case then I would upgrade.

Honestly I agree with Kas23. After a couple months I would imagine the 4s would slow down and be like the 4. I am sure most people can live with the iphone 4 camera until the the iphone 5 comes out. The camera is not a big deal for me so I suppose upgrading to a 4s from my 4 would be pointless at the end especially when the iphone 5 comes out.

I'd always questioned purchase of the 4S. For people who already had iPhones, why would you buy it?

At the most basic level, you've got the form factor already, same sound, same same screen, same speed, same camera.. What are you paying for??

If I uploaded a YouTube video taken from an iPhone 4 vs 4S- you can't even tell the difference.

No. I still have the iPhone 4.
If you are upgrading from the 3Gs or if the 4s is your first iPhone, then the 4s would be perfect for you, but the spec bump and Siri to me isn't worth the upgrade.
If I want Siri, I can just download Spire from Cydia

Simple economics. The cost of the new phone plus early termination fee was more than I was willing to pay to get the new features on 4s. Looking forward to what the 5 (or 6) brings.

Well you have a better camera, Dual Core Processor, more storage and another feature which is Siri. So there is more than just Siri but I think unless you have the iphone 3g or 3gs, I would not buy the 4s. I honestly think the 4s is not worth it in the long run if you already have the iphone 4.

I had an iPhone 4S and my mom has a 4. No reasonable person could tell any difference.

It's like a clone phone.

No, I don't have a 4S, because my 3GS is still perfectly satisfactory. If it doesn't break, I'll wait for the 5 to be released. Which I will buy new and unlocked if I like it. If the 3GS stops working and I can't repair it, I will buy a 4. Because, while the camera on the 4S is great, I don't care about Siri or faster cpu's, and 200 hours of standby is a little 1995-ish.

These are really easy questions for a rational person.

I bought a 4s only because I had a problem with the on/off button on my "4" and couldn't get used to an android until the "5" came out

It's odd that I didn't notice a speed increase on the iPhone but did notice my iPad 1 seemed slower :)

I'll see what the "5" brings and either stick with the 4S or sell it and buy the new one ( ok - its going to be the latter)

Lol

The same here, I average about 4-5mbps... Also can people please stop with the iPhone 5 name. Why is that the name everyone thinks of:rolleyes:

I don't see going from a 4 to a 4S is worthwhile. I do not want to use my upgrade allotment on such a tiny upgrade. I'm holding off for when the 5 comes out. I don't see a lot of features that the 4s has which I want. so I'll hold off.

I only get phones when the next one has a feature that I need or want. Right now the 4 does more then what I need it to do.

Why wouldn't it be the name that everyone's thinking of? Sounds miles better than iphone advanced, or iphone pro. And shorter too, as long as we're speculating.

iPhone LTE or iPhone 4G just seems like a more probable name for the next generation device...
