Both AW and iPhone 14 Pro Max on silent, 100% of the time. I find ringtones obnoxious, in general.
If he uses sleep, it will already disables notifications on top of turning off the display and use a dimm watch-face. I do find it annoying though, the way it shows the unlock information, when you just want the time.Discussion of pros and cons of keeping your watch on silent aside, I believe OP can set the watch to automatically turn on silent mode at night and turn the sound back on in the morning, by creating automations in the Shortcut app.
There’s an automation for this now…so you wouldn’t have to remember to do it manually. As per the title?
If you do leave your Apple Watch on silent, may I ask why?
I’m trying to get my Apple Watch alarm to only vibrate (no audible alarm) and from my research, it seems like the only way that will happen is if I put my watch in silent mode.
That got me thinking: I’m no doubt not going to remember to do that every night, so what about if I left it on silent permanently?
I can see benefits for this, but I can also see drawbacks. For instance, I know what each distinct alert sound, sounds like, so I don’t even have to look at my watch sometimes when it alerts me about something. If it was muted, I’d almost be forced to see what it’s trying to tell me.
So, do you leave your Apple Watch on silent? If so, please enlighten me why?
Many thanks.

We returned the 14 Pro Max, and my partner and I switched phones. He's using the iPhone 6S plus, and I have the iPhone X.Thanks.
I like it.
Got a MBA, in Starlight, which I love.
14 Pro Max, too.
Did you keep yours?
That’s interesting idea about Airplane Mode, do you find it saves the battery significantly. I might have to try that out myself.Because it is on my body, I find the use of haptics particularly useful as opposed to sound. I wear mine to bed for sleep tracking and the haptic alarm works well — I have Airplane Mode turned on overnight and then switch off during the day.
