Im weird about my electronics.. and my car.

Most everything else I don't care about.

Anyways, we got my girlfriend her own iPad so it wouldn't be an issue :)

really surprised at the amount of people that are selfish, I can understand complete strangers but family and friends? A simple reminder to be gentle with it would be enough for me.

Perfect example what is wrong with society, too many only think for themselves.
-----------------------------------

Its not a problem with society or selfishness. An expensive and delicate item is not in the public domain the right to refuse a request for 'a go' is up to the owner. If i dropped my iPad i would be upset, if a friend dropped it i would expect a replacement. Sadly some people do not have the morals i have and a replacment might be delayed or never arrive, this would cause a problem and a possible loss of friendship (leastly caused by the material loss). So refusing means you care so much for the friendship that you refuse because you know deepdown they are retarded arseholes. BTW how would people react to a request 'Can i shag your wife' or 'borrow your car'?

I'm glad this thread is here. First I feel comfortable letting some of my family use my iPad. Like my brother my sister and so on. They are all adults in their late 20's. I dont live with them, actually I live in a different country. Always had iPhones but last year I bought an iPad 2 and I'm taking that with me on holiday. It's me and my 6 year old daughter that are going. I'm really careful when I let my daughter use my iPad. I am always with her and I'm holding it or she is sitting on my kingsize bed using it, even if she drops it there it won't do any damage. Now, my brother has a boy my daughters age and he is a rebel that does not listen or pay attention to what the parents say. Runs in the middle of the road and the sort. When I was there last year he had a major fit when I bought both of them a present in the fair and he broke his one and wanted my daughters one. It was an event to forget! Both kids upset crying and screaming as my dad took the toy from both of them. To cut a long story short. This year I would like him to try the iPad as I will let my brother and all the family. Knowing how my nephew is, its obvious that I am a bit apprehensive to even let him touch it let alone him having a tiff because he wants it and me being the bad selfish uncle. My mum would be the first to say, let him play. Like an iPad is a £50 kids toy. I use my iPad for work a lot and have all my invoices and costumer letters plus much more in it. I don't want to be the bad guy but I think I have little choice. I can not take it? That would sort out lots of headaches. I'm even taking an old iPod 2g for my nephew so there will be no problems when he sees that my daughter has one. Don't think they will be looking at my 4S as the iPod is the same size but when he sees the iPad screen is a different matter. I feel like just saying to my mum, when she says let him use it, to just go and buy him one and let him use it as he sees fit. Let's get one thing straight, I made sacrifices to buy my iPad, it's a year old and not even a scratch. I love my tech and like to see it in perfect condition. If it got broke I would not be able to buy another one straight away. No way. There are other bills and compromises more important than spending £500 on a new iPad.

What do you guys think about this? Sorry to hijack the thread a little bit. I did answer the original question, just throwing a few more things to the mix

If they are standing up? No. If they are sitting down on carpet, I'll let them touch it. You need to add this as a choice in your poll.

Which would you rather be toward someone you don't know: a nice guy with a broken iPad or an ****** with a non-broken iPad?

2 thumbs up.

I let the door man use for it like 5 seconds to check a USPS discrepancy, but other than that, it really depends on the person. I don't like $400 mistakes.

When I was first thinking about getting an iPhone a few years ago, I wanted to try out a friend's, but he wouldn't let me even touch it. I do the same thing. If someone wants to see how great the iPad is, I show them. I don't let anyone touch it. I'm OCD enough with my own fingerprints that I don't want to know what I would be like with someone else's.
