-snip- although I use the full name, and introduce myself as such, there are people who take it upon themselves to greet me by the shortened nickname. I hate that.
Yeah, been there. Some people I've just given up on, but with one or two at work, I used to train them. They would say whatever nickname they settled on and I would ignore them until they physically touched my arm or said just "Hey!" or something like that. Then I'd look up and say sort of absentmindedly, "Oh, right.. sorry. I go by Elizabeth."
The first time I did that, they'd say "oh" or something, and promptly address me the next day by the nickname again. I would do exactly the same thing. Exactly. I would say EXACTLY the same thing, in EXACTLY the same, offhand way.
Rinse and repeat, as they say. By the THIRD TIME... they got it.
