My bedroom door is always open, but my daughter prefers to keep her's closed.
When we go to bed, I have a little OCD, and always have to check the back and front door are locked. The alarm goes on so any entry downstairs would wake the street.

Not going to be much use to you if you in an apartment on a high floor. You are going to have to exit through the door.
Perhaps, but if you have to leave through the window, you're gonna have to wait for the firemen with the ladder or net to jump in.

The door being closed could keep the fire from coming into the room as quickly.

But then again, who knows if a door will really do that. It's what I was told/taught as a kid and I've never really questioned it. My coworker is a fireman … I'll ask him.

Depends on the door quality. But all will give you some extra time.

They still use life nets?

My wife and I keep our bedroom door closed at night, in part because we don't want our dog and cat to join us, which they would. Also, with the door open, there are too many "house noises" to listen to and worry about. We do have an alarm system. There've been a couple of times when the alarm has sounded during the night, leading me to go through the house and check the perimeter from the inside. I've never found an explanation, though.

The bedroom door is left wide open at night unless we have guests staying with us. In that circumstance it's generally partially closed to allow for privacy, but never fully closed and locked. We have a smallish open floor plan home and with children the door is left open so that they can easily get to us in the case of an emergency. Now, if you are a parent then you fully understand that often your definition of emergency and that of your child will consistently differ. In the event of "mommy/daddy time" the door will be closed and locked. :D;) Outside of that we generally don't close doors in our home unless there is a real need for privacy (restroom, changing clothes, or working in the office, etc.). Our cats roam the house freely and generally sleep with us at night, so they aren't a bother.

All house doors double locked and thick storm windows locked. No noise making pets, but I assume I'd hear it if someone tried to break in. I push my bedroom door to the wall, but not fully clothed because it's really loud to open and if I have to get up in the middle of the night I don't want to wake up anyone.

But I need noise. I have a little desk tower fan that I run at night.

We seem to be opening this up to windows and blinds then.
So blinds and curtains closed at bed time. They shut out all the light.
Because my daughter has light sensitivity, she has the curtains closed whatever the time of day if she is in the room.

It took me a while to adjust when I moved in with my wife, I was raised that we were allowed our own private space - our bedrooms and if we wanted to keep the world out we could by closing the door, my wife likes her doors open, no need to shut people out etc so when we got our own place it was her way that won out, even now 12 years on I am still a little uneasy when going to sleep being able to see the top of the stairs in the dimness. The only door we close is the bathroom, nobody wants to see that!

Bedroom is mostly closed, but not shut. Cat sleeps in bed with me to start the night, but doesn't want to stay the whole night, so she opens it and goes about her late night activities.

House doors to outside are locked; bedroom door is open. If someone breaks in I want to be able to shoot him/her directly and not ruin an interior door.

Closed and my wife insists on a bar, too. I'd prefer it open for the air flow myself, but happy wife, happy life.
Going WAY off topic here, but...
Some might think that your philosophy would place you in the "hen-pecked" category. Not me! If people would realize that the happiness in a relationship both people should focus on is that of their partner not their own, we'd have a whole lot fewer break ups.

Outer doors always locked. Leave upstairs bedroom door open so wife and I can hear sounds throughout the house and outside when we are sleeping. It also keeps the room cooler in the summer. I close the door during meditation or other times when I want quiet or privacy.

What an odd topic...

I sleep with the doors always wide open. Sometimes closed only when i've fallen asleep after masturbating.

Actually, it is a most interesting topic, and - from reading the thread it is clear that it is the sort of thing where differences between people can be quite stark.
