Whats a NAS?
Network-attached storage (NAS) devices store and share data for multiple computers, that can be accessed remotely.

Just another take your money association.
Oh dear, your conspiracy theory gullibility is showing again…

Wrong.

I watch absolutely none.
Apart from YouTube conspiracy theory channels I suspect.

I have been out of the audio/video hobby awhile now, just more stuff needed.

Ummm, that would be apart from the mainstream propaganda media format programming like cnn and others?

You mean like Fox, the Goebbels model network?

Them too, they are all owned by one corporation or just a handful of a closed net group, they tell people what to do, how to act, how to sleep, how to vote, how to play and what programs to view...television the biggest Trojan horse since Helen of Troy...if people want change the best way is to rid yourself of that filthy propaganda machine is to halt using cable/satellite etc....it costs less.

I didn't intentionally stop buying physical media (movies, specifically) but I can no longer justify paying so much more just to have the physical disc in my closet collecting dust.

Based on the movies I've priced or purchased in the past few months, the average price of a 4K disc is about $20-30, and it takes some waiting before a title will drop below that. Additionally, I've seen titles that are only available in 4K digitally, so buying a lower-quality disc doesn't make sense. And, in some cases digital copies are released before the physical media.

Meanwhile, I've been buying the same movies in iTunes for $10 each. If you check every few days, most new titles will go "on sale" within the first month of release. I just can't justify spending double or triple for physical media, especially when Bluray already seems on its way out.

My kids never touch our old dvds/BRs. They like to stream things, not watch our “old” Pixar films. We are down to one player and I use that for Netflix rentals. Haven’t bought physical media in years.

It's possible the next format in media is small cartridges which can hold a full HD film and the best part is no moving parts as Blu-ray players have and the machines can also be smaller in size.

A real problem for people that watch sports.

I guess that would depend somewhat one what sports you watch. You can get a subscription for the NBA, NFL, NHL, etc. etc. If you watch everything, I suppose that would be true. I was actually glad to see that Philo did NOT have sports channels (probably why it's so cheap since sports channels like Fox and ESPN charge a bundle and force you to carry it normally if you want Disney or regular Fox programming (package deal). I could handle $15 a month for cable channels I actually watch, but then I realized, I don't really watch those either.

I did think I had a problem when I wanted to watch the Super Bowl on my 92" screen since cable was gone and there's no antenna connection underground (I have one on my smaller TV upstairs), but the NFL app gave that one for free. ;)

Physical UHD 4K Bluray is still better than streaming quality. Although with some content from Netflix and Vudu sometimes I can't tell. Eventually I'll probably buy less. ANd now to justify buying I really need to like the film. For music I use Apple and or find hi res tracks to download. If I can't find it hi res digitally then I'll buy a CD and rip it.

We still buy blurays and DVDs but only for movies we really want and will watch several times. These days, that's quite rare since we already have a decent movie collection and already own all the older movies we tend to watch a lot. I think I bought only 1 full-price, new release movie last year and I haven't bought any yet this year. Like many here, I also use Plex so I can watch them anywhere I want on any one of our devices.

My main problem with going streaming only is there isn't a good "spotify for movies" and probably never will be (i.e. Netflix sucks). Plus, there's no guarantee your online movie purchase will be there forever. I mean, if I'm going to be forced to download the movie and always maintain my own local copy, in order to guarantee I'll be able to watch it in the future, I'd rather buy a bluray/dvd and just keep maintaining my own server. I also have a hard time locking myself into one online service.

Music is different though. We stopped buying music years ago and now only stream it since the quality and selection is good enough for us.

I still purchase UHD 4k, but only specific titles that I know I'll rewatch. Outside of that, I do the typical netflix/hulu route.

I’ve never bought a DVD. Not ever. I have a couple. But they we’re gifts. I skipped blue ray altogether. I have zero desire for physical media of any kind. I’m finally down to my last 7 dead tree books. I’ve been reading ebooks since 1999 and I’ve been Audible member since 2000. I can’t remember the last CD I bought. I just recent went through my collection and ripped the ones I hadn’t gotten to yet. I did it before my iTunes Match renewed. I plan on getting rid of them this summer.

"Dead tree" books, eh? As opposed to live tree books? :p

The amount of industrial waste that goes into making a single iPad or computer monitor display (let alone the power to run them) is mind boggling compared to a small part of a tree, but whatever floats your boat, I suppose. :D

There was a lot of industrial waste that went into the making of my power wheelchair too and yet I still have one. I refer all paper as dead tree because that’s how it’s made. My iPad is an assistive technology device that I use to make my life better. Physical media requires someone else to handle it for me. Being all digital keeps me in control. Also, physical media has to be stored. I don’t live in a large home. I choose to save my limited space for my yarn stash. I try to live as green a life as possible so I can’t be shamed by my use of technology. And my boat, with all of its  gear, is floating just fine.

As a little kid I got VHS-tapes of almost every Disney movie there was and more. Every birthday, christmas, etc I asked for movies. (and Lego, but that's offtopic :))
When I was in my teens and DVD's took over, I realised how useless the pile of VHS tapes became. The quality sucked and after a while we didn't even have a VHS player anymore.
That's when I realised that physical copies have no added value whatsoever and that I would never make that mistake again. I only buy digital (PlayStation 4 games, iTunes Movies, ...) or stream (Netflix, Apple Music and Play (service from my Belgian cable provider with HBO series and stuff))
