I read some articles about Passbook and how people use it or not. Most of them think Passbook is worthless. I have used Passbook few times for Walgreen that is it. Then I realized I have some gift cards lying around and decided to try them on the Passbook just for fun.
My question is do you still use Passbook or not? What kind of app that you use for Passbook? :apple:

Thank you

I always use it when I fly. I often use it for Walgreens/Duane Reade. I occasionally use it for Starbucks...which I try to avoid.

I personally see it as a gimmick. I have Starbucks and iTunes in there and rarely use it. I did use it for a movie once with Fandango mobile tickets.

A couple membership cards, but mostly just for airline boarding passes.

Honestly, it's pretty pointless in its current implementation since any useful cards you save there could just as easily be managed by the associated app. The only reason I add boarding passes is because then I get a nice persistent link to show the boarding pass fullscreen whenever I'm near the airport. If Apple would just allow apps to display this kind of notification directly instead of requiring the user of Passbook, I wouldn't even bother.

I wish I could use it more, especially for loyalty cards. But allot of the places I would get loyalty cards don't support it. I've actually found myself not going to other places since I got tired of always carrying around loyalty cards and hate giving out my number.

I use it when I go to the movies which was this past weekend. starbucks too but I haven't been there in some months now.

Like you I use it for Walgreens. I use Key Ring a lot more. Still have not figured out how to get some of the apps that can use PB added.

My passbook has Starbucks, American Airlines, American Express, and Walgreens.

I love the American Express Pass. Anytime my card is used to make a purchase, I get a notification that links back to Passbook, which shows the transaction and the outstanding balance on the card. Press the (i) button on the Pass, and it shows details about the last 5 transactions, along with detailed information about how to contact AMEX.

I also love the American Airlines boarding pass, and how it updates gate and seat changes automatically.

I could use the apps for both of those examples above, but to me, it's just way more convenient to access those through Passbook. Especially how the AA boarding pass has a direct link from the lock screen. You don't even have to unlock and launch Passbook.

IMHO Passbook actually a good idea. Unfortunately, the stores that support it are not the kind of places I shop at. And there are just not enough stores that support it overall. :(

Starbucks? Overpriced nasty coffee. I get my coffee from better places. (CBean/TeaLeaf)

Walgreen? Nope. I prefer CVS.

Maybe with the Apple Pay coming up and being integrated with Passbook, PB may finally get a lot more support from every storefront on the planet. There's hope.

I use mine at Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, and Target (Cartwheel).

At one time, there was an app called "Passmaker Pro" that would scan the traditional barcodes (UPC-A) for your existing loyalty cards. As you probably know, Passbook normally doesn't support UPC-A barcodes, but the developer got around that by generating an image of the barcode and attaching that to the Passbook pass. It was clever, but unfortunately, I believe the app got pulled as I can no longer locate it. I wish Passbook would support all barcodes (like the Keyring app does) as it would be a lot more useful.

I use it all the time: when going to the movies, train, bus, flights (only use it with a couple of companies)... I have over 200 tickets stored in my Passbook.

Do you still use Passbook?

I use it for AirMiles now and I've used it for concert tickets at least 5 times.

Edit: and for Sephora, movie Scene card, and PC Plus

I use it quite frequently for boarding passes and Starbucks, and occasionally for movies (Fandango), conference tickets (Eventbrite) and various gift cards.

I've found two apps being able to use it here in China.

One is a hotel booking app, which simply adds a string of text to Passbook that tells you when your booking is, and the address. Pretty useless.

The other is an app for restaurant discounts, which shows a QR code and a manual code. Also completely redundant function.

And neither of them will remove themselves or update themselves. All in all, Passbook is pretty redundant.

still use it? im still YET to use it..like nothing supports it theres just no need around here where i am..& i wont be surprised to see apple pay be the same thing not supported/no use over the current standards..

I use Passbook regularly for mobile boarding passes with United. I've never found any other purpose for it.

Funny, earlier today I downloaded a bunch of apps that support passbook and will check them out when I have time/feel like it. I don't see it ever being used regularly until it is much easier to use and more companies support it.
