Okay the genius told me he cannot replace the iphone because water damage voids warrantee( sorry for my now newly roughened english i read too many of iphonetoday's posts and thats not a joke) but if i can contact the person that told me this and get her to make a log of it they will replace it. on a side note does anyone know if it is possible to get forwarded to a specific employee without knowing their extension?

Sorry but we did try to set your expectations low before you went. Your case number should be all that is needed to get an Apple Care support rep to review your problem. The odds that you will be able to get routed back to the same rep that told you about the "known problem" are slim to none and almost Zero that she will note your case to allow you to get a warranty exchange.

However, you can always try again as the phone call is free. Give it another try and see if your odds improve. Do you know if the store Genius noted 'liquid" damage on your account?

I could be wrong but I would think that Apple would take responsibility if you explain about the app, and how you were only using it as directed. If the water indicator has been tripped in the mic area by blowing into the mic, then they really need to remove that app or include a disclaimer..

i called apple back and they told me the same thing and made a log to replace the phone regardless of water damage i took it to the apple store and they replaced it woot!

Why would they replace the phone regardless of water damage?

I dont know but they did!
See that extra call did the trick. Just make sure that you are more careful around liquids with this replacement. Great, glad it worked out for you. Did you go to the same Apple Store?

The bottom line is it all comes down to the Apple Genius tech, they get to make the call. Often, if you are polite and friendly and dont' walk in like you own the place they have some flexibility.

SAme Apple store different genius but however the first genius did seem nicer but he just had his hands tied

Refurb is better than new.

No it's not really. Refurbs are iPhones that had problems previously that were sent back, repaired (wink, wink) and put in a new housing. I've gotten some refurbs that were like brand new, but i've also gotten refurbs that were worse than the phone I had.

there is no option between new and used on ebay and it is way clser to new than used

I have this condom here. I opened it, but it was never used. So, I am selling it as new. What do you all think? It's closer to new than used.

I have to wonder if this person is even serious. Two threads, both show just how "oblivious" he is.

If they replaced yours, will they replace mine?

I am having a lot of problems with my phone. There is a bright spot in the center about 1/2 inch down from the top. It appeared 6-7 months ago. Also, a huge amount of dust buildup appeared under the screen. I notice a few dust particles a few months into my use of the phone, but it seems that the problem is getting worse. There is also a dead pixel located about an inch down from the top center of the screen. It appared a long time ago, but I didn't think of it as being that big of a problem. It comes and goes but when it's visible, it is really bothersome. Also, the rubber on the earbuds seems to be melting and I recently exchanged them a few months ago. The first instance was on a plane on July 9. The rubber seemed to have soften to the point where it's almost creamy. Some of it has started to come off.

I bought my iPhone from the att store at Lenox square, Atlanta, GA, in the middle of August last year. My friend looked at the 'about' section under settings and noticed that the phone already had 6 hours of call time on it. It was a little unsettling knowing that I paid $250+ for a phone that was used, possibly refurbished, or on display.

Even though I noticed these problems a long time ago, I didn't think much of these issues until I noticed that large amounts of dust is collecting under the glass. The light spot and the pixel really didn't bother me much until I noticed the the dust problem. I didn't know that I could have done anything about these issues until I recently did some research. Since my phone and all of its accessories are still under the one year warranty, anyone think Apple will replace it or fix the problems if I bring it into an Apple store?
