The Series 7 cost me 454 euros. Now I'm selling it to Apple for 125 euros after almost three years.

That's €329 in total or €110 per year or €9.1 per month.

Considering how much importance I attach to the watch… I am delighted with the cost.

If I had kept the watch for another year (assuming it doesn't break or anything) I think the cost would have come down to around €7.7 a month. For a euro and a bit it's not worth for me going without a treat...

Not for me.

I consider myself a very demanding person when it comes to smartwatches. I give immense importance to things like screen size or AOD (bright, now refreshing every second, etc).

I also place a lot of importance on things like car crash detection and other things.

And, as I said in other comments, I'm taking advantage of the change to buy the Cellular model. My idea is to leave the iPhone at home in various scenarios. Besides, that will allow me to have a backup device to communicate in case something happens to the iPhone.

And at first I thought no way, but I think I'm going to like the new design more with the screen having even more prominence over the case.

The cell capabilities are very handy. Costs for the plan varies by carrier - on t-mobile I pay $7/mo for their 500MB/mo high speed data plan and seldom get anywhere near the limit since I don't stream music from the watch while without my phone.

It is nice to leave phone @ home when going for a run, walking the dogs, etc. Even for stuff like yardwork or working in the garage I'm often beyond wifi range yet the watch still works without my phone. It's really convenient.

Not a direct answer but I upgraded from S4 to S9 on a whim. Sure it’s nicer but I’d have been fine staying with the S4 which still works well. Lesson learned.
I have a 5 and am thinking about the 10. 5 works but it is a little slow, doesn’t always show me when I have texts and the battery stinks.

I will upgrade from Series 4 to 10 only because the 4 won’t support watchOS 11 which I think is a great update with Vitals app. However, if I have a Series 7 then no, I won‘t upgrade.

I have a series 7 aluminum with cellular and I am upgrading.
I like the screen size increase and thinness of the body. Jet black looks cool also. I am dropping cellular though I just did not use it enough and recently Verizon went up on the plan so with fees it is like $15 a month. I have had a series 2,4,7 so each screen size increase makes a difference when you get older to seeing text.

I had the AW4 and I sold it. I bought a Series 7 stainless steel, which feels a bit bulky to me, and now it doesn’t always charge unless I restart it. I’ve ordered the Series 10 in natural titanium, and I’m hoping it’s significantly thinner with a new look.

It is tough to say, I think I prefer less glass bezel and more metal bezel in the S9. But hard to say unless we see these in person. Looking at an enlarged picture on a computer screen makes the size difference glaring but will likely look miniscule on a wrist.

Series 10 42mm vs Series 9 41 mm.

At first I wasn't too happy about the change in bezel proportions, but now I would say that the screen stands out more now and not just because of the larger size.

In person, the Series 10 definitely feels better. Keep in mind that the black glass bezel is the angled drop-off transition into the aluminum/titanium case.. It's not a flat surface like on Ultra models.

And for the Series 13 we will once again see a larger screen that gains ground on that black glass bezel.

Totally get that. Honestly, my main reason for even thinking about getting the Series 10 is due to the fact that I got interested in the cellular version which I did not opt for in my Series 7. All other features are a bonus, though I am still not sure whether it is worth it for cellular alone.
I personally like the cellular feature. I don't really use it that often, but it's nice to be able to leave the house and run to the store or go for a walk and not have to worry about bringing a phone.

But if you do upgrade, don't expect a remarkably different experience. An Apple Watch is still an Apple Watch. Though OS11 will bring some change.

Assuming that the Series 7 is working properly, undamaged and you are happy with the size, is it worth upgrading to the Series 10?
In that case no, it's not worth upgrading. In my case, I held on to the series 3 for a long time and once it stopped working properly and I was no longer happy with it, I upgraded to Ultra.

Great pic! If I were in the market for a Jet Black S10, I don't think I'd care. For titanium models, I would imagine I want more titanium coverage (i.e., more of that valuable metal bezel) instead of more glass bezel. This would hold especially true if I were to get stainless steel (moot point since it isn't available on the S10) and the OG gold versions (even bigger moot point).

As it stands, I'm probably going to get a Starlight S9 when prices drop. If I were to get a silver aluminum, I think I'd still prefer the S9. If I were in the market for a dark watch like Midnight or Jet Black (which I'm not), I would definitely opt for the S10.

I think Apple took a step back with the design. If you had a gold case and a gold background, the watch would like even more sleek with a smaller black bezel. But the default background on the S10 matches the bigger black bezel which is why Apple probably chose it.

I have a S7 edition and it's like new. Not a mark on it and rare watch

But the battery is 80% and Apple with replace for £80 once its below 80%, problem is , its been like this for months and its killing me. When I ride my bike I need to charge during the day

If I had the battery replaced before S10 was released I wouldn't be buying one. But currently ordered the S10 titanium and I think I'll like it now

Given your assumptions and adding one more assumption of my own…that being that the assumptions expressed are the things that you value in an Apple Watch: No, it’s not worth it to upgrade to the Series 10: Your S7 is working properly, it’s undamaged and you’re happy with its size.

I have a AW7, and upgraded to the Ultra 2 instead of the 10.
The AW10s screen is even more around the edges than on the previous models.

And that, at least on my models (AW7 and my old 3), was the area they had the most scratches and even little cracks in the display. The aluminum edges and the rounded glass of the screen. I wear my AW all day long. Even of I work outside in the garden etc.

And with the AW10 I would really be afraid that it gets even more scratches than the models I had before.
That's why I go for the Ultra 2 now. Titanium frame around the display, flat display with saphire glass.

I’m upgrading my SS S8 to a cellular aluminum S10. Obviously if I don’t love it, I can return it, but as much as I love the look of the SS, I think I’ll be happy to go back to a lighter weight device. I’m also looking forward to slightly more screen size, and some of the features of the 9 and 10.

I was really hoping to go with a larger watch, but 45 was already really pushing it for my wrist size, so I think 46 is gonna be out for me. I will probably go to Apple and check them out at some point before I’m out of my 2 week return window.

My 7 was eligible for upgrade so I checked on trading it in with Verizon and they offered $180 so that knocked the monthly charge down to less than 10 bucks so it was worth it to me. I know I’ll lose the blood oxygen for now but I am confident that they’ll work out something to turn it back on in software eventually. The bigger display and getting some of the gestures that the 7 didn’t support made a difference. Another factor was that my iPhone 14Pro isn’t eligible for an upgrade yet without paying off half of what’s owed so I decided to go with the watch this time. The way they talking about demand for the Pro models being down might have VZ offering to pay it all off and upgrade like they did halfway through the 15 cycle.

My main reason for having the cellular watches through the years is that Verizon makes it very affordable with the monthly payment. I’ve used it while on the mower listening to audiobooks, podcasts or music without having to have my phone with me and it helps in the gym not to have to have the phone in your sweats while working out. Also it is convenient if you get a call when you’re away from your phone and now with the head nodding coming on the AirPods Pro 2 taking calls on it will be easier than ever.

It's a bit rudimentary, but it's enough to compare the differences between the Series 7-8-9 and the Series 10 with relative reliability.

i don't like that aluminum silver sooooooooooo much! and that's from someone who generally loves brushed nickel/brushed stainless! (i paid more to get the brushed stainless all-clad because it was prettier than the shiny! lol!). but on the apple watch!? no! just NO!
