Recently I had a chance to pick up an iPhone 7 Plus, and I was surprised it was so light, given the fact that it was made of aluminum.
Ever since the release of iPhone 8, every flagship iPhone has been equipped with glass back and stainless steel. This made this phone significantly heavier than before. It caused muscle strain when heavily used.
Is anyone missing the light weight of iPhone?

You should try an iPhone 6. It's the thinnest and lightest 4.7" iPhone ever made.

I love everything about my 11 Pro except for the weight. I carry my SE 2 more as a result. But the SE2 battery health is losing a point per month so far. That’s a bit concerning. I’m not even using it that heavily and consider it to have adequate battery capacity for my needs. So, I’m not going to hope Apple decides to try and make its pro models lighter by reducing battery size.

I’d be fine without all the glass and steel but I know it’s the glass and steel that make some people perceive the pro models as “premium”. So I’m just going to take a seat over in the corner and leave well enough alone.

While I love the screen size, I can't stand the weight of my Pro Max. Go figure...

That's how I started feeling about my Pro Max. It weights down my pocket. I sold it. Now
I'm buying a used Pro, see if it works out.

“Muscle strain when heavily used” lmao ok.

People complained when they were too light.

When I first got my 6s+ I was disappointed with the weight. I'd been used to and like very much the weight of the 6+. It felt solid in my hand. My 6s+ was and still is too light - a consequence of the smaller battery to make room for 3D Touch.

I have the 11 Pro and honestly didn't think the weight was a problem until it became such a big issue for discussion on this forum. It's not a problem for me because I don't carry the phone in my pocket and when making a phone call I don't notice the weight. The weight of the new SE is definitely a positive, but I'm not willing to give up the features of my Pro. I really like the bigger OLED screen which is so nice to read on and watch videos and the battery life is amazing.

11 Pro user, primarily.

It’s not heavy for me, but it’s got a nice heft to it. Feels solid. I like that as opposed to the old iPhone 5 112g feather weight.

I tried an 11 Pro Max prior to this, twice, and found that while I preferred the larger display, it was just a bit too heavy for long periods of use especially how I hold my phone (pinkys support the bottom)

I don’t find the 11 Pro heavy at all. But I don’t find it light either, it’s a comfortable and solid weight. Best battery life in a phone it’s size, and better than many phones bigger than it (like the Note 10!).

I have 1st generation SE and I voted too heavy :) I know it's one of (if not the) lightest smartphone and it's really incredibly light for such a powerful device, but for me, sub 100g with rubber case would be perfect. I still remember some of my latest "dumb" phones, which were very light. It also helped that they were more rugged than smartphones so I didn't need a case.

I personally think my 7 Plus is heavy. Depends on the user...

I have those sentiments about my iPhone XR... and liking its display size and loving the sharp images doesn't fully offset disliking how big and heavy it is to use as a phone.. or to try to fit into a pocket (or into a purse compartment meant for older, smaller phones).

So... the XR has become my "narrow iPad mini" and gets a lot of WiFi-only use most days. But the cellphone of my choice remains the original SE for now. I already had one and then after awhile trying to switch up to the XR just said uh no and scarfed up another SE with more storage off the Apple refurb shelves. I'm happy with the combo and how I use these devices.

Dunno if Apple will be happy that I will probably pass on the larger iPhones in future. When I have to upgrade over not wanting to get too far behind the curve on iOS or hardware support issues, I'm likely to opt for whatever is the most recent small-format iPhone Apple has, and I do hope they keep offering such choices.

I had a XR and HATED the weight of it. I finally binned it off for a X and think the weight is perfect now.

Hah, I like the XR for being just as sturdy as my SE, but... I tried so hard to want to use that XR as my phone that I'd periodically take the practically weightless case off it to see if it felt any lighter "yet".

The insanity, wow. As I said in my earlier post, I can and do love it as a kind of tablet, but that's about it. It's just not my cuppa tea for a smartphone.
