I've got the iPhone SE2 so nope, not heavy (but not feather light either). iPhone 6+ or heavier though and my pockets get lopsided particularly when wearing shorts.

You mentioned ‘it caused a muscle strain’, but you didn’t really elaborate on that. If it caused a ‘muscle strain‘ in your hand, then you’re holding the phone for long durations one handed or you’re holding it too long with your grip too tight. I’ve never heard anyone complain about a muscle strain in their hand with a smart phone. Not saying it can’t happen, but maybe you should try some hand calisthenics or strengthening exercises where that won’t happen. Or of course, downsize your phone.

I was actually quite surprised that some other users also complain about the weight and understand how it relates to muscle strain.

Weight is not something that concerns me with regards to my phone. I am more concerned about size. I have an 11 Pro and the weight is fine. Actually if a phone is too light, makes me wonder about the durability of the device.

I would prefer something a bit smaller and am intrigued by the rumored 5.4 iPhone 12.

I have an 8 Plus, which I believe is one of the heaviest models, and prior to it I had a 6 (not plus) and a 5s before that, which I think were two of the lightest models. That being said, the 8 Plus has never felt ever to me. We’re talking about a matter of grams. I’ve never understood how people feel that any iPhone is “too heavy”. Cell phones used to be bricks! 😂

For someone with RSI or arthritis, that ship has sadly sailed.

Mind, the iPhone used to be my main e-reader so that usually meant holding it for 4-5 hours straight. They were still 3.5" then though so not as heavy as current large iPhones. I don't think I can do that anymore without my thumb and wrist shaking.

I have an iphone 11 and its definitely a complaint of mine. A phone with a 6.1" screen that weighs 6.84 ounces? That's crazy heavy for a phone that size and it feels it. Apple can and should be doing much better without giving up any battery life.

In the hand it’s fine...in the pocket it’s too heavy imo. If Apple offered an aluminum backed iPhone I’d gladly choose that.

Same situation. But, I don’t have any muscle disease.

At this point in time you can’t have better battery life without a bigger battery which means a bigger and heavier iPhone

I had a Samsung Galaxy S6 before, the iPhone XS felt like a brick until I got used to it. Now it doesn't bother me, unless my kid is over and I have to do something on his (my old) SGS6 phone which feels so light - even though it's only about 40g difference.

Yeah my Xs Max was heavy and my current 11 Pro Max is even more heavy but I like it like that feels premium and expensive, the stainless steel with the leather case, feels like a luxury product.

That being said, I cannot recommend the Max devices to someone who wants a phone that’s lightweight at all, these devices are unwieldy for most.

I use a smart battery case for my 11 pro max and just for a heads up the phone and case together is quite heavy to the point where I would carry it in a backpack and not hold it when out in public. Noticeable heavy to hold

Glad to get rid of my paperweight 8+ for the 2020 SE2. The SE2 is so much lighter and more comfortable for me.

I’ll keep an eye on the smallest iPhone. When the notch is gone I may consider one, especially if it weighs about the same as the SE2.

My 11 Pro Max is a big phone but I knew that going in. I have never found it to be to heavy. But I also don't think it is a light phone by any means.

iPhone 11 here.

Is it heavy? No, not compared to a kettleball.

Is it unwieldy to hold? Somewhat

Does it fit in gym shorts? Technically, but it looks like you have tumor on your leg

Is it easy manipulated with 1 hand without shifting your grip (caseless)? Definitely not, lots of shifting around the palm required to reach buttons on the top left/right or to get to the control center.

I got it because it was cheap not because it was the form factor I wanted.

I do own multiple iPhones and every single one of those models are different in terms of the weight and overall structural characteristics. I find my iPhone 6s to be the most compact, perfectly designed, and lightweight model of them all. Both the iPhone XR and iPhone 11 Pro that I own are heavier, and I feel at times that they could’ve been a bit lighter for my liking. I do hope some of the future models are designed to be lighter, since it would be easy for me personally to carry along and attend video calls on the move.

Yea if I use my thumb too much with typing it will start to tighten up. I could see people getting strain there trying to use the phone one handed especially with a lot of reaching for the top. I've always used two hands so I can type faster.

Someone should make an exercise video where you use 11 Pro Maxes instead of the dumbbells or kettlebells :D

I have an SE2 right now as my daily driver, and it feels very light to me.

The weight of the 11 pro/7+ is about my limit, anything more than that is a bit much imo. The 8+ pushed me into unwieldy territory.

Compared to my SE2, my 11 pro feels heavy after picking up. But I have gotten used to it.
