Always, even in SMS I'll use full words and sentences.

The only time I'll use the abbreviations is with a healthy dose of irony.

Full sentences (usually...questions that require a one word answer get a one word answer and such) and proper spelling and grammar. I hate that IM speak garbage. I'll use a lol, wtf, omg, imo, etc., but I will not use u, 4 (instead of for), bcuz, wat, dat, dis or any of that nonsense.

Exactly me.

I like words and grammar, and if you know me, you know that about me, so there's no use expecting me to butcher the language. Hell, I once canceled a first date with someone because he used "conversate" in a serious discussion.

I spell all of my sentences out for the most part. The only thing im bad about doing is not using proper punctuation and that is partly because i do not believe in ,

I am known to send people their text back and say make this more legible so that i can figure out what you are saying.

You do know that "conversate" is a word correct...? It's a verb, meaning to converse.

It doesn't even save time to type like a moron. I type 100% accurately everywhere, including in texts or instant message conversations.

If I pretend to be a 14 or 15 year old when I type, I find that I end up splling thins lik tis in oder to keep the disgise on.

I think that's sad. Why is that my impression of the average teenager? And is the way in which they relate and speak in real life characteristic of the way they type?

yea i alwaz type uzing full sentences on aim and when i txt i like 2 b short 2.

srsly i type good on aim but on forum i need 2 save space- i has 140 letrz 2 use only!

Same with me. I don't know why people try to look stupid by saying "b rite bak." It takes less than a second type one more word.

The three "shortcuts" I use the most are "idk", "lol" and "u". Otherwise it's complete words. But I don't bother with capitalization or punctuation unless it's necessary to get a point across.

On here, I will use some common acronyms, such as: BTW, IIRC, AFAIK and IMO.

No, I have gotten in the habit for some reason of typing only two or three words and then hitting enter, for no reason at all.

For example, the statement above would be like:
No
I have
gotten in the habit
for some reason
of typing
only two or three
words and then
hitting enter
for no reason
at all

Yes, I'm one of those morons. For the most part I spell things correctly. I do still say "iThink" and i spell guess with two "z's"... And I still use dots.

i do that too
only because i used to play thug2 online
and you could only type so much
so i got use to it
some people hate it
others dont notice

Capitalization is almost always good.
Punctuation slacks a little.
Spelling is near perfect.
Grammar is fairly decent as well.
Only shortcuts are idk, lol, and wtf.
Apostrophes are almost non-existent

If what I am typing is long, I will split
it up like this so the other person
knows that I am not finished typing
a response to them.

Same here. I don't want to appear like a gorilla with a typewriter.

For IM and texting I mostly use full sentences and descent spelling. The punctuation will be lacking.

Now my most guilty error while texting is what I call T9 errors. Were the word I want to use has the same key combination as another word. For example I will use good where I meant to use home. I have lost count the number of times I have made that mistake. Good and home being my worse it seems.

I use almost full sentences. I sometimes omit punctuation or, in the case of one friend, write in riddles or write phonetically.

So "back in a bit" becomes "Bats inner-bits". It's quite fun to try and trip each other up.

Full words, with the occasional WTF, OMG and LOL thrown in. My capitalization tends to be a little more hit and miss, but I certainly prefer complete sentences. I don't have the time to translate some of that other "text speak" - seems like it would take just as long to type like that, rather than type the real words!

I don't go out of my way to correct something, I just have a normal conversation the way I would in real life. I will use short hand when useful.

I always type properly, including in IMs or texts (actually my favourite thing about the iPhone was that it made that so much easier). I do use lol, omg, wtf etc though (although I'm more likely to put something like 'haha' than lol)

What really grinds my gears is when I ask why, and they say "i dont care how i type it isnt skool"

I REALLY hate it when people say something like "I can type with perfect grammar/punctuation but it doesn't matter this is the internet/msn (texts I don't mind) so why bother". Basic grammar and punctuation shouldn't require any thought and therefore shouldn't be a bother. Sheesh.

I also hate when people have failed to grasp the apostrophe rule, or just ignore it. I don't know how many lessons I had on that at school and it bugs me like hell when people ignore it.

Full sentences, yes though punctuation usually takes a back seat (ie: I don't capitalize most words).

You mean when people type things like "I like my Mac's, they're way cooler than PC's.
