I've had a 6S for two years now and I very rarely use this feature. I'm wondering, is this an under-used feature or do people get real productivity out of it?

Mostly keyboard cursor, and quick shortcut to start camera in selfie mode. For the cursor alone it's worth it for me. I use that ALL the time.

its hilarious that 3d touch is even a thing. i think it might be the biggest gimmick apple has ever released. its basically the equivalent of holding the screen down to initiate a secondary action except instead of making the software do that, you integrate an entire hardware layer to the screen.

I use mine mostly for the keyboard cursor but I have been making more of an effort to remember to use it otherwise. usually its by accident though tbh

It's hilarious how much I disagree with you. :D

Mostly for copying/saving photos, come to think of it. And “lock screen” notification interaction (marking new emails as ‘read’ is probably 75% of that). Oh, and tap whatever it’s called reactions in iMessage. And keyboard cursor placement.

When I had a 6S I rarely used it. It just wasn't quicker than doing things then normal way. It's a gimmick in my opinion.

Although with that said, I did find the keyboard cursor thing useful.

hopefully they'll improve this in iOS, when all of the iphones have it.
but thanks to the SE this will still take a few years....

The bigger problem are probably the iPads. Apparently they haven't found a way yet to make it work with larger displays.

Regarding usability, they need to find some way to make it obvious in the UI where 3D Touch is available. Would have been easy if iOS still had the old 3D style ...

Keyboard cursor is hands down the most useful 3D Touch feature. It’s helped me countless times! I also use 3D Touch a lot for copying links, saving photos, quickly jumping to features in apps, etc.

You are not alone.

Bought the 6s when it came out. Would have bought the SE had it been released at the same time.

Don't use the 3D Touch. I'm still on iOS 9 so I don't know what extra 3D Touch features came out since then or if the 6s would support it.

Far as I'm concerned, it is a gimmick.

I do use a lot and super frequently. I find it particularly useful, especially when iOS 11 is released.

I use it for a few things, like people above said I use it for the cursor. I have all me apps in folders with other apps that are similar, like a games folder or a shopping folder the good thing about 3D touch is that if you 3D touch on the folder it shows you which apps have notifications which is great for the folders that have alot of apps in it because I don't have to spend alot of time scrolling to find my application.

Edit: also use it to adjust brightness of lights in house.
