I've noticed lately that I use WiFi at home almost everyday and every night, but I check to see how my 3G is doing quite often. Lately it's been non-existent during 5pm - Midnight the past few days.....

I only use WiFi, unless we have a lengthy power outage. Then, 3G. We have an OK signal (I'm on the edge of 3G/2G coverage). Tethering would be handy for those times (can you hear me now AT&T? ;) ).

That's interesting since I've had one power outage and totally depended on my 3G and 3GS tethering for about 4 hours; it was definitely a lifesaver for me.....

3G. I don't use the WiFi. Of course normally at home these applications that need WiFi are usually already accessible on the computer, so I just leave it off; saves on battery since it's not scanning for a network when I'm on-the-go.

I use 3G because (1) often I will get a weak wireless connection, (2) often have problems roaming from one wireless network to the next, and (3) I'm paying a lot for it (that's $65/month just for the data plan).

So your poll is missing 3G only. My home is 3G covered, so I'm not using EDGE. :)

Except when my stupid cable company is doing "maintenance" (twice in the last two weeks), I'm always on wifi at home.

No worries. I'm probably just tired and being anal about it. My mistake: '3G and EDGE' is inclusive.

I think I was trying to be anal about it, but you're right it's late here too....

WiFi is faster and uses less battery life for the same amount of data (if you have a good WiFi signal).

At home I use WiFi with Edge. At work I use WiFi with Edge. The only time I use 3G is when I am not connected to a WiFi network.

I use my wifi, there are times though when the cable seems to go dead. So I use EDGE, I rarely get a 3G signal at home. 3G is great when I'm traveling to London or elsewhere in the country.

wow! data is expensive over there! right now, my £20/month (sim only monthly contract, phone was not included) covers all my calls, texts and unlimited data. but if i were on a longer term contract that didn't include data, i could add it for something like £7.50 i think.

WiFi only, I don't have Edge or 3G at home. Or anywhere near it, GPRS only for me.

I've tested all three at home over a weekend, and for me, wifi gives the best battery life by far.

    I dont understand.

If you turn off 3G, dont you lose the ability to send and recienve calls and texts?

If not, I honestly had no idea you can do them over wifi?

3G only at home. I have 5 bars probably 98% of the time; the other 2% drops it down to 4. I'm happy. :)

I don't turn off 3G at home either, but I don't use it for data when I can use wifi. Or maybe I misunderstood the OQ.
