Yes but in reality how long has google maps been around in comparison to Apple maps & also I did read someone's post who said that every time he tried delivering to a business he had to ring them first because half of the places he tried to deliver to had gone out of business.

Once again, Apple maps deposited me a half mile or so from my intended destination. You get that creepy feeling because the type of destination feels out of character with the surroundings you find yourself in. Whereupon I fire up Google maps to correct my course and get me there.

I also like Google's instructional clarity, with simple phrasing like, "take a left at the fork".

Since the Google Maps update a while back that can redirect you at any point in your trip with new directions based on heavy traffic, accidents, and such, Apple Maps never gets used by me at all anymore. Google Maps can now even show you how many lanes there are when approaching an exit and which ones can go in which direction. It totally destroys Apple Maps in all metrics other than appearance. Apple really missed out by not buying Waze.

Bought Navigon US way back at 1.7 - Still have it, but normally use Apple or Google.
They're all constantly improving.
Sometimes Apple is easier in a pinch to activate. Between the 3, I'll get there 9 of 10 times.
It doesn't hurt to use old fashioned common sense and find your way. Remember when you asked for directions and put them on paper? Doesn't hurt to keep that talent polished for the day
your shiney toy poops out on the road :)

WAZE all the way!!!! Only map I use. I do have apple and Google on standby. I have noticed lately that apple is pretty consistent with Google. But WAZE blows them both out of the water.

With you on that one I think it's the realtime alerts that makes waze one to reckon with I've been on it a couple of years now & think it's fantastic.

Apple maps and waze for me. Apple maps is turn by turn is super fast. I trust it more than waze and Google.

Waze for everything else.

Agreed. I can honestly say, apple has never done wrong by me and I like that it shows in my lock screen. So I usually use it when I don't have a charger with me. Google maps just last week took me about 7 miles in the wrong direction and told me I was at the mall while in the middle of a sub-division. But the real time WAZE alerts and active fastest route re-routing is priceless.

That's the only thing with the voices on waze, aren't brilliant but I currently have Arnie give me directions.

Waze. Apple map is the least favorite and only map that doesn't know there is a construction or not.

I never had an Apple device so I can't choose which is which. But all I need is a device that could lead me into the right direction and can be powered by vpn when I need to.

Gps nav by skobbler. Best app I have tried even with more reliable information than Google maps. In my country Apple maps are totally crap and within those years no improvements even there were sent tons of reports...

It depends

60% google maps, 40% apple maps

both work well for me, I just prefer google maps' traffic updates at times but apple maps is underrated for how fast it is (great navigation too)

Dang surprised to see so many on gmaps
Has it gotten that much better ?
I'm a waze user

Btw goggle maps include accidents delays detours ? I commute MD to DC daily -.-
Thank !

I was Google-oriented back in the day, yet now I use Apple Maps as it seems to be faster to access in my situations.

However, a few highlights:

*a dark and abandoned neighborhood searching for a Starbucks (turns out it meant 39th street in another city nearby)
*a new condo's parking garage searching for a restaurant (the street had since been closed following the construction)
*constantly having to change routes, as sometimes streets show as being open when they are actually dead ends, or a lane merges/doesn't merge when it says they do, etc.

Point being, I'm looking forward to the new Apple Maps. I hope they can at least get some streets updated.

I paid for TomTom and subscribe to their traffic subscription and have never regretted the purchase. Their navigation and traffic information is exceptionally good, and I have never been let down. The estimated arrival time is extremely accurate, normally only adjusts by 1 or 2 minutes depending on how quickly I drive. The app always finds the fastest route, and should traffic mean that another route is faster then it will re-route me there. I drive a lot, so I consider this an investment to save me time, I have always found free alternatives to be slightly worse including Google Maps & Apple Maps. I will admit I have not used these regularly in the past few years, but TomTom has consistently delivered fantastic results, and saved me hours in traffic.

Of course google maps since it's been released for years. Apple is always good but not on this app...

I wouldn't pay for a Tom Tom subscription, been there done that years ago. Waze is free & it's as realtime as it comes

Google has recently gotten incredibly good with their traffic. It might be the Waze acquisition, but I'm doubtful. I think they must be aggregating cellular position data from everyone's phones using Google apps whether they are actively using navigation or not because they will have slow downs nailed even in sparsely populated areas where there cannot possibly be any significant number of people using their maps at that specific moment. Again, the big problem I have with Google maps is the inability to adjust the volume of the voice prompts independently of the system volume. Apparently they just added a night mode, however. Still waiting for speed limit information as well!
