Usually I go under the usernames Chevymontecarlo (because I liked the car) or R94N (related to my real name, obviously). Do any of you do the same? I do it to save me thinking of new usernames 😛

I only use Intell on here. It may change as time goes on though. Elsewhere I use something else which is more related to my name.

I try to, but usually my username is already taken so I have to add some numbers or come up with a new one. I was actually surprised that my username was not taken in here

I use the same name almost everywhere, and have done so since the mid '90s. If you were in an AOL chat room in 1996 and you were talking to rprebel...that was me.

I regret my macrumors name. I made something up quickly to ask a simple buying-advice question when I wanted a new mac a while back. If I knew I would get hooked here, I would have tried to be a little more clever.

Yeah, my username isn't the best but like you I needed something fast...I use them on all the other sites I use just because I'm the same person in real life, so I wanted the same name in cyberspace, as long as it wasn't already taken 😛

Yes. Or variations of roadbloc. When I got banned from xfire I just made a new account called roadblocv2beta.

Not really. I have different ones for different things. For instance I have a different username than SilentPanda for gaming but I use that username for all my gaming activities.

So... sometimes.

I do. This forum is the rare exception. In all other places, I use anexanhume. I never have to worry about anyone taking it because I came up with it.

What are you, from the late 90’s? 😛

I usually go by:
- Corndog5595: Corndog was a nickname when I was in 4th grade, it just stuck with me on the internet for some reason. 5595 = 5/5/95 = Birthday; simply ‘Corndog’ is usually taken

- CJConnor5595: My name is Connor J. Griffin. First two initials and my first name. And the birthday again because CJConnor is usually taken by some idle account that was registered 4 years ago.

- ConnorCG: First Name, First Initial, Last Initial.[Connor][C]onnor[G]riffin

I have a handful of common usernames from site-to-site-to-site, but they're fairly common and every so often I have to pick one out of the blue because my preferred names aren't available. Will I tell you what my preferred usernames are? No. 😛

Going to any forum or site and looking for "Melrose" (or whatever) may turn me up, but more often than not you get some entirely weird stranger. I was fortunate enough to have my Twitter handle be my real name (two years ago it's wasn't taken yet)

Interesting stuff! And yes, I am from the past 😀 It's stupid how the mainstream media still use that term. I just wanted to be different, rather than saying something else 🙂

I love all your responses/reasons! I find it interesting for some reason. I always find it annoying when you go to sign up somewhere (e.g. Twitter) and find that username is taken, but it belongs to an inactive user anyway! 🙁 So annoying.

Would that be Barney Stinson? 😀

I use similar names, mostly so I can remember them all.

There you go.

RawBert is the only alias I use on the internet - besides my real name.
. . . which is Bert Raw, I bet.

I use different ones everywhere. That way, if something goes sour, I can forget that was me.

Nope, I've never gone by either of those names.

😀

Seriously, I use different names elsewhere.
