Thanks for the recommendations, screenshots, etc. I'm pretty sure I will just need to be ready to adjust my usage, charging habits, etc coming from the Fitbit side of things. Right now, the things I love most about Fitbit are the one stop shop app, the sleep tracking, the killer battery life, etc. I have a feeling when I see everything the AW can/will do, it will change my outlook pretty quick.

Don’t use a sleep tracker anymore. Was ok to begin , but soon realised after a good nights sleep that it was because I was tired , not because an app on my phone/wrist kicked in. The nights I didn’t sleep well , I never consulted the app for feedback , I just got on & had a better nights sleep the following night.

That said , if it helps others for their own reasons then that’s great.

I do wear to bed though. The discreet vibration alarm is perfect for me every morning at 06:15. Wakes me , but never my wife who doesn’t need to be up until 06:45.

I just then immediately put on charger in bedroom & by the time I’ve showered , dressed & had breakfast it’s fully charged ready. Oh & by time I’m out of the house I may of ticked off a couple of stand goals already.

Cheers

I am admittedly a low-drain user because I use the Watch almost exclusively for activity/exercise/sleep tracking. In other words, I don't use it for messages, email, weather, etc. The Watch (after the 5.0.1 update) charges quickly enough that putting it on the charger while I shower and eat breakfast and then again during dinner keeps it charged.

If I used it more, having a charging cable at work and putting it on the charger during, say, lunch or a meeting would probably make up for the difference.

I only use about 30% per day. A quick 15 minute charge in the evening tends to get me back to 100%. I use the alarm on silent. It vibrates on my arm and it wakes me up without waking my partner up, so she can sleep in. When I wake up it tends to have only used 2-3% during the night.

Last post was over 3 years ago. Just wondering if things have moved on since then? Does anyone still wear their Apple Watch in bed when they sleep?

Pretty much every night. I usually wake up around 6:30 and put it on the charger. By the time leave for work it is charged. It takes about an hour when down to 30% or so. I never check to see if it is 100%. It’s always close enough.

I've had an Apple Watch since day one (April 24, 2015) and I think I've worn one to bed maybe three or four times since then. Can't stand having something on my wrist, when I'm trying to sleep. So no - sleeping with the AW on is a hard pass, for me.

I used to wear my series 6 to bed, as the braided solo loop was so comfortable I barely noticed it. The sleep tracking was a bonus that I mostly ignored, but I really liked how the alarm woke me up gently by tapping my wrist.

These days I have an Hermes series 7 with a leather band, which isn't the kind of thing you wear to sleep, so I just leave it on the charger overnight and forgo the nice alarm in the mornings :/

I have an S7 and with the fast charging I can top it off while I read before bed. I have a sport loop band which is so light and comfortable that I barely notice the watch. I use auto sleep.

I still have my S4 and wear it to bed every night (I just use the default Apple Sleep app) - it only uses 20% battery whilst I am asleep so that's nothing but will stick it on the charger in the morning for 20 minutes whilst I shower!

I also find sleep tracking quite interesting, but since I own more than one AW, charging isn't really an issue ;-)

I have a pair Apple Watches. I wear my S7 during the day and my older S4 overnight. There is always one watch on the charger. I use the SleepWatch app to monitor my sleep.

Occasionally I’ll wear my S7 to bed to check my SPO2 overnight.

I could easily get by with one watch and charge it once I wake up, but I still have my S4 so I might as well use it.

I used to laugh at people that wear their watches to bed, shower, swim etc - talking about conventional watches right now, especially durable ones like Casios F-91W or G-shocks, thought it was like showing off.

However once I've tried wearing my AW7 to bed, I'm stuck with it now! It was an eye opener - I have a job that requires staying up late and doing stuff, quite often, actually, so I never really had a sleep routine. I was shocked to find out that often, because of insufficient time and also the time required to fall asleep, or me awaking at night, I rarely reach even six hours of sleep. Thanks to AW I now have set-up a sleep routine and try to follow it.

I usually charge my watch twice these days, once in the morning, once at night before going to bed. Thanks to fast charging it's not a problem, however I would like to complain about the battery life. I used to be able to go the whole day + the night on a single charge, with like 10% of charge to spare. Now I often don't even have the minimum 30% of battery by evening to go into the sleep mode. Either my unit is defective, or the software updates are to blame (my battery also deteriorated to 93% of capacity after only 7 1/2 months).

This is exactly what I do, including which models. :)

If I only had one watch, I’d charge it when I was sitting still at my desk during the day or else at night when I am in bed watching TV or playing on my ipad before I go to sleep.

Me too, I find it is useless.
I guess it depends on the person. I think if you fall asleep fast and do not wake up until you hear the alarm, wearing regular watch does not make sense at all. And I guess you would also not be super interested in tracking your sleep as no issues.

I have always worn watch to bed. Like since 3rd grade when I got my first watch. I have had sleep issues since young age - do not fall asleep around the same time, wake up during the night, wake up earlier than my alarm. In these cases having the watch is useful for me. If I wake up 20-30 minutes earlier than my alarm I would get up. If I wake up 3:00 AM I would try to fall asleep. Naturally because of this I am also interested in tracking my sleep.

To each their own though. My parents cannot wear a watch to bed. I have friends who are like that as well.

I wear mine to bed every night. It goes on the charger in the morning soon as I wake up and charges while I’m getting ready for work, and then back on my wrist when I’m ready to start my day. Works perfectly for me.
