I guess it depends on the person. I think if you fall asleep fast and do not wake up until you hear the alarm, wearing regular watch does not make sense at all. And I guess you would also not be super interested in tracking your sleep as no issues.

I have always worn watch to bed. Like since 3rd grade when I got my first watch. I have had sleep issues since young age - do not fall asleep around the same time, wake up during the night, wake up earlier than my alarm. In these cases having the watch is useful for me. If I wake up 20-30 minutes earlier than my alarm I would get up. If I wake up 3:00 AM I would try to fall asleep. Naturally because of this I am also interested in tracking my sleep.

To each their own though. My parents cannot wear a watch to bed. I have friends who are like that as well.
Well, the best charging habits are formed when letting the watch charge at night and it learns better. Also, I dislike to have 5+ hours lost of Stand notifications.

I have a series 5 and I usually charge it from around 7-9 when I am at home just watching TV, thats usually time enough for it to charge back up to a 100% which gives me sleep tracking and a full day of fitness tracking until the next 7-9 charge cycle.

I only use about 30% per day. A quick 15 minute charge in the evening tends to get me back to 100%. I use the alarm on silent. It vibrates on my arm and it wakes me up without waking my partner up, so she can sleep in. When I wake up it tends to have only used 2-3% during the night.

I certainly find this post difficult to imagine, but awesome if that really happens for this user. I wonder what series # the watch is? to lose only 30% per day... wow. I use about 70% most days, probably more. Series 7, non-cellular.

About sleeping with it, my (very old) Fitbit indeed loses 5% or less overnight, Apple Watch on the other had loses at least 15%, usually more like 20% overnight.

I usually end up doing my charging during my first meeting of the day. I have a charger next to the computer. I use my watch as 2-factor authentication to our VPN and then take it off to charge. I tried other times, but this is the most consistent schedule I have.

Hm, weird. I do not receive any Stand notifications from the watch while sleeping. It might be because of the Focus setup. I do use the Sleep Focus so maybe this helps the watch to know to not show me any notifications for Stand hours.

I don't hear the notifications, it's just when waking up to seeing 5 hours of stand time lost irks me.

I see. So when you put it on the charger you do not see them?

For me sleep tracking is a key aspect of a smart watch/band. I am not about the notifications (my mobile data is mostly off either way as I like to not be disturbed when I do deep work). I am more about the activity tracking and for that I need sleep tracking as it helps me with training plan according to recovery better.

But like I said different people, different needs. In my case I charge the watch actually twice a day for 15-20 minutes. Once during lunch break (after my morning workout) and once during the evening before going to bed.

Hello! I can answer this.

My post was 4 years ago and was a Series 3 or 4 at the time (I don't know which it was at the time of the post). I was getting 30% use per day, but I wasn't being very active with it. My Series 4 battery life did drop off dramatically, but partly because I was more active.

I'm now on a 45mm Series 7 non-cellular. If I do no exercise at all then it'll use 50% in a day, including sleep. Through the night I lose about 15%.

I appreciate the update! That is quite similar to my Series 7 experience.

Lose about 10 overnight with it in ALL sleep modes, so no alerts, theatre mode and the Moon - Do not disturb.
To be honest its a non issue for me as over my 30 min get up with breakfast for work its pretty much back to 100% as by bed i am usually around 30-40%

When I am home from work, I charge the watch. After a few hours, I wear it again and that lasts me overnight and during the following day (with about 30-40% battery left).

Repeat this each day.

Series 3 with 92% battery health.

I usually charge before I go to bed or after I wake up. I run S6 / S7 with always on display off and it seems to do its job.

Coming from a Fitbit Versa 3, the build in Sleep function in an apple watch is not good at all. To compensate, I have AutoSleep app installed on the phone. This app was recommended by another MacRumors member about a year ago when I got into the apple watch platform.

I only use the Pillow app to track my sleep and I haven’t paid for it as its it still the basic version but I still think it’s fantastic
