i have it on small and have max magnification only cause i don't like busy wallpapers, and my dock and its icons is the only design/eye candy for my desktop.

Hiding off, on a 13" CRT. I tried hiding on for a while, but it really annoyed me when it came up whenever I moved the cursor down to it.

Command-Option-D hides it for me when I need to. It depends what I'm doing - if I need to concentrate, i hide it.

I've went back and forth over the years. Right now I have hiding ON and I think I like it that way. I rarely ever need to goto the Dock. Command-tab and Quicksilver does most of what I would use the Dock for.

Not hidden and magnified. If i had a MacBook however, it would most definately be hidden because i'd want to maximise real estate

Hidden... in a seeecret place. I know where I hid it though, in case I need it back 😉

20" iMac C2D. I want as much screen room for Aperture as I can give it.

I hide it just to give me the screen space. looks a lot neater too. I like my computer looking all proper and organized (no matter the real state of things.
