I mean, the mini 2 has the same specs, 100 $ cheaper and it is smaller, why would anybody buy the air, you pay 100 $ for 2 inches.

Let me start by saying that I will purchase the mini when I'm able to.

That said, I had the original mini for about 24 hours before I returned it and I was bothered by the screen and NOT simply because it lacked retina. Because the mini simply adopts the screen resolution of the bigger ipad, everything is very small on the small screen. Retina will help with readability, but there is something about the squashed nature of the presentation on the mini that is bothersome. This is a problem that obviously does not exist on the iPad Air.

So, it could suffice to say "some people just want a bigger screen," but there's more to it than that.

Real simple.

1. Games are better on a larger screen

2. People with sight issues find the larger screen better

3. Some like smaller and some like larger, and those that keep their iPad at home prefer the larger screen in many cases.

Look at this forum, and you will read from those that have/had the older mini going to the larger Air.

There really should be a ban on these types of threads...and I really need to stop opening them.

Size matters to people. Some like the larger screen, some like the smaller screen. Price is irrelevant!

You could give me an iPad mini...and I'd happily take it and use it. But I would also buy (and use 95% of the time) a full size iPad because that is what I prefer!

Some people like to camp...some like to vacation in hotels.
Some people like fish...some like beef.
Some people like beer...some like wine.

PS...It is not as if the full sized iPad is huge.

I bought mine mainly because I read a lot of Comics and Magazines on my Ipads, the mini was ok on it if I use Zoom and read panel by panel, the Ipad Air will be better at reading the full page.

Guess how much extra it costs to add more storage space? I rather have the 2 inches than an extra 16gb.

Because people have there own personal preference for a larger screen? Why don't ppl understand this. Ppl want what they want. Just because you think it's useless doesn't mean someone else will think it's useless.

personally the iPad Mini to me, doesnt exist. I use my iPad primarily on the sofa instead of a laptop. I want a big clear screen. If I wanted a small screen Id use my iPhone.

I just asked if there are other people thinking the same as i do.

Larger screen is more enjoyable for gaming and consuming content. Plus the Air may be slightly higher performing in games due to being clocked higher than the mini. Would you notice it? Maybe not. Playing games like Kingdom Rush Frontiers, the extra real estate matters. On the mini things were too cramped.

I'd turn the question around. Now that the iPad is so sleek why buy the mini? :p

I agree.
Antagonistic thread titles with innocuous content is a bit frustrating.
(It's like opening a Christmas package from a cousin that is wrapped in wildly colorful wrapping paper and inside is a recipe for fish sticks. And not even a relevant recipe at that.)

To carry over the line of reasoning the iPad mini is better- and thus the "iPad Air is pretty much useless"- as it is a smaller version, logic would then dictate the iPod Touch is better that than the mini as it is a smaller version of it.

WHAT?? Would apple do that? would apple underclock the mini 2? Never mind, now I see that 2 inches seriously matter for some of you =))

When I think of words to describe the Air, 'useless' is the only one that comes to mind.

People are seriously ridiculous on this forum.
