I upgraded from a 7+. I went with XS because I’m ready for a smaller sized phone-and handbag manufacturers still haven’t (overall) made larger pockets for phones. My husband has an X and I always ended up frustrated with it. Thankfully I’m adjusting quickly to the different ways of doing things. I’m really happy with it.

I upgraded from a 6S to a XS and am so happy. I for me it actually feels like a real upgrade. I find the screen amazing Face ID works much better than I thought it would and I love not having a home button. The camera is fantastic and I can’t wait to test it out more. On day one I found it heavy, but I guess it’s mostly due to switching from an aluminium to steel phone. I am getting used to the weight and will probably be unaware of it in a week or so.

I am coming from a 6s Plus and got the Xs. I mainly bought the 6s Plus over the 6s because I wanted the better camera with the image stabilization. I never liked the size of the Plus for carrying in my pockets. Although I did like the size of the screen in actual use. I have big enough hands that I often used it one handed.

I love the size of the Xs as it is so much more comfortable to fit in my pockets. And there is not much lost when it comes to screen size compared to 6s Plus. The size of the Max screen would be nice, but I’m tired of carrying a big phone around. But I do wish that the Xs had the two columns in mail and messages like the Plus, but can live without that.

The camera is great. I love that the Xs camera is not compromised compared to the Max. The camera is the most important thing for me. It is the biggest reason I upgraded from the 6s Plus.

The OLED screen is beautiful. I got the gold and am contemplating going caseless. I notice that it is much faster than my 6s Plus. All in all I am loving it. It has got everything I want. I feel that it is the first phone I have not had to compromise one feature (eg. size) for another feature (eg. better camera).

I plan to keep this phone for several years. I used to upgrade most every year starting with the 3G up until the 6s Plus. But with the cost of phones now and the incremental changes it is not worth it. The year to year changes are not as exciting as they used to be. But for someone who has not upgraded for the last few yearrs the Xs is an exciting phone.

Yeah that’s what’s I’m going to do, going to “test drive” it for the next couple days and I’ll decide then. I will say watching videos on the max are what makes me want to keep it.

I'd recommend living with it the full 14 days: it's often hard to know for sure after just a few days, IMO. Anyway, I love the Max all the way around. I don't have large hands, but I find the Max more comfortable to handle, especially typing, than my X, and I love photos, videos, reading text, etc so much better on the larger screen. I do understand the preference for the smaller device, but I hope that you'll try it for the full return period.

I guess it comes with the territory of boards that typically people loving their products are off enjoying them and not browsing this forum. But it's so negative here. I love my max. I am also coming from a 3 months hiatus with an Android phone so being back on apple is wonderful.

I love the size ( had an X at launch for 8 months) speed camera and being back on iOS. :)
Really? Is there anybody who doesn't love the XS should be the question. Of course there will be a few, but the implication of your question is that most don't like it and a few do. I'm sure it's the opposite.

Loving mine! Coming from Plus sized iPhones for the last few years, it’s taken some getting used to in terms of typing and such, but I love the lightness of it and (mostly) being able to use it one-handed.

Yep, love everything about it. And my daughter is thrilled to inherit my X.

I love my new Xs. I’ve been using the plus models since they were released. The smaller form is a pleasant change. The screen is still a great size. Just like others have pointed out, the gestures are easy to pick up and I don’t miss my home button. I didn’t move to the X last year because I wanted to avoid being a beta tester of a new phone. Seems like the Face ID has been figured out as well. It really works great.

Drop by your local DMV and ask what anyone wasting their day in that line thinks about bureaucracy.

Same thing applies here. If we didn’t like ranting, why make an account in the first place?

Seems like alot of people here are coming from a plus to the Xs, and are happy with there decision, i must say i like people's honesty, the general feeling seems to be that the plus size are great but people are tired of a big phone for obvious reasons, ( size and mobility) this is good info and in a way good advice, because people that have not had a plus size before know from others experiences what it's like to own a plus size, I've had the 7plus and now have a 8plus but I've been thinking about an Xs.

Max and Plus have the exact same footprint. Max screens fills the space where there were bezels.

Xs screen is actually lacking quite some usable space compared to Plus.

Yes i have seen both my friend, and from what I've seen the max really is just bigger, it doesn't make as good of use of the usable screen space as the 8 plus.

Love mine so far. Came from a 7 Plus, so I'm definitely enjoying one-handed use on an iPhone again!

The upgraded camera (larger sensor and stereo recording) is potentially even enough of an incentive to upgrade from a X depending on how much value you place on the photography aspect of your phone... it really is hard to overstate how much of an improvement this is

Coming from an iPhone 7 its a big upgrade, the os is buttery smooth and coupled with the 4gb ram is lightning fast. Along with the screen it feels super premium to previous phones ive had since day 1, but for a grand you would expect nothing less.

i had apprehensions about Face ID but i gotta admit its as faultless as the touch ID i got accustomed to, its instant in operation and has worked in all conditions so far and with all the apps that originally required touch ID.

Kudos to apple, they really have built something special.

Outstanding points. And you’re correct. The larger sensor and stereo recording is excellent. I mean, the 6.5 display, faster Face ID, camera upgrade, is all great, but its always the little details that Apple never seems to discuss openly during the keynotes the make the iPhone upgrade more significant. That may not translate for everybody else’s considerations, because Apple markets exactly what they want to show you, but those are the fine details that are also important.

I upgrade mine two years old 7 plus to XS max and difference is obviouse - speed, screen!, wireless charge, face id, etc Tough first couple of days without home button :( but it is OK now.
Yes I like it, next upgrade again in two years ...:)

I love mine with one caveat. I came from a 6s and was worried about how Face ID would work. It's working perfectly for me, just as invisible as TouchID. I don't even know that my phone is authenticating me, it's just like having a phone with no security set on it except that if someone else tries to use it it won't work for them.

As for size, I think I got it right between the Xs and the Xs Max. As I go back and forwards between my 6s and Xs the 6s now feels small and a bit like a toy. I'm quite surprised about how noticable the relatively small increase in the physical size and weight is for me. If I put my Xs in my front trouser pocket it feels bigger but not so huge as to feel awkward or feel like it's weighing it down but I suspect that had I gone all the way up to the Xs Max I would find it too big when in my pocket.

Maybe it's going to take a few charge cycles for the battery to get to full capacity but my only disappointment so far (the caveat I mentioned above) is battery life. Perhaps my expectations were too high, or my memory from three years ago is playing tricks on me, but based on the official specs that Apple publishes (hours of video playback, talk time etc) the Xs should be a noticeable improvement on my 6s but I don't really feel it's any better at all than my 6s was when it was new.

Apple have totally nailed things like the best ARM-based SoC out there by a mile, FaceID such a sophisticated technology that works so well, great cameras etc but battery life is the one remaining area where I really wish Apple could move itself out of the "mediocre zone" especially for the mid-sized Xs form factor.

Upgraded from a Silver X to the Gold XS, and i love it. feels even more glossy in hand but maybe cause its new lool

Software wise its definitely faster than my X and my apps seem to be responding better on my XS than on my X.

Love mine after nearly a month. Camera is slightly better than the 7 Plus it replaced but the big deal for me is that it's smaller.

Yea, we're good.

Interestingly. I skipped the X because so much of it was new. I wanted to give Apple a year to work out the kinks. Besides, my only issue with the 7+ I had was its size.

Glad I waited.

This XS Max has been one of the best iPhones ever. Absolutely zero problems so far. We both got the 512GB models because why not and the carrier gave them to us with zero down and free shipping this weekend. Went out and got a few Apple leather cases as well. Enjoy your phones!
