I’ve had an iPhone 8 for awhile and it’s amazing. Super fast, everything’s fluid, True Tone is incredible, cameras good, and fast charging changed my life haha.

But the I decided to buy an iPhone X and it is BANANAS. That screen is off the wall, edge to edge, I mean this thing is the greatest phone in like the history of phones. There’s never been something so great in the smartphone world produced ever. The SPEAKERS omg, they sound so good.

But I feel like the iPhone 8 is easier to use. My iPhone is mainly a social tool for me. It keeps me connected with people and the world. And from that perspective, as a tool, I find it easier to hold, check messages, and just use.

The iPhone X gives me an amazing experience with that amazing screen but is harder to hold and do the things I do on an iPhone. I wish it were lighter, and just easier to do things.

Even swiping up isn’t as easy and clicking the home button IMO.

Control center is hard to access compared to iPhone 8, checking notifications as well.

I also use reach ability often and on iPhone 8 super easy. But it’s hit or miss for me on iPhone X.

It just seems like the things I do on iPhone are easier to do on iPhone 8 than iPhone X, even though iPhone X is bananas and iPhone 8 is great, but boring to some bc it’s something we all are familiar with given it’s similar form factor to previous iPhones.

Absolutely!

I'll second that. I gave my 8 to my wife.

Some knitpicker here complained that she couldn't reach the emotion button with her thumb while holding the phone with her right hand and texting. I tried it also and found it a difficult reach, but decided to keep the X anyway. :<} I found the solution by tapping the emotion button with my left index finger. Oh, well...

Haven't bought one yet. But, after 3 hours of in store usage, I find it easier and smoother. I never understood Control Center issue. Either swipe up from bottom or down from top right. I see no issue.

Perhaps you're just not use to it yet. :)

Ok, guess you are referring to height and one-handed use on Control Center. Not really a one_handed user. So, forget that part.

The only people who prefer the 8 are the dozens who have repeatedly said so, in the many many identical threads that really aren’t very hard to find if people could possibly bear to look around for 5 seconds before typing.

This place is really running out of things to talk about. Might be time for a break.

The X is a prototype phone, imo.

Yeah it just doesn’t feel as refined or “perfected” as the iPhone 8.

The iPhone 8 feels like the creator(s) of it have mastered it.

It feels like this is their best work for this form factor and design.

iPhone X...not so much. I feel like there’s ample room to make it a lot better.

And given I do the same things on both...it just makes sense from one perspective to use the device that makes my experience easier overall...

Yeah but I added commentary

Much prefer the X to my old 7 Plus.

Ignoring size difference, multi tasking and switching apps has never felt better or more intuitive.

Years ago when I jailbroke my iPhones I loved Zephyr (gestures for multitasking) and thought, wow, I wish Apple would embrace this fully. The X is a realisation of that dream.

*shrug* I never had a 6, 7, or 8. Was never inspired enough by them to abandon my 5s (and the Plus models were lovely, but the form factor too much for me). So I came from a 5s to the X. I likely have smaller hands than you and have no issue with accessing the Control Centre or Notifications. I find the X very comfortable to use. Your mileage may vary.

I think X is fantastic, and all these people calling it a prototype or beta or whatever else only prove that they really do not understand what either of those words mean.

I still have an iPhone 6 and plan to purchase the X soon. I spent some time playing with them both in the store and I actually thought swiping felt totally natural to me. I didn’t find reachability to be any worse than on my iPhone 6, but I suppose it depends on the hand that’s reaching. The taller and slightly wider display is going to be more of a stretch for some thumbs.

I did not feel like I would be able to hold and operate the iPhone 8 Plus with one hand, but the X was no problem. Coming from the 6, which has a button you can press, the home button on the 8 and 8 Plus felt weird to me. Buttons should be pressable! Do I have to lift my thumb to double press? Nevermind... I’m getting the X so I don’t need to know. :)

As for the software, it’s still iOS so I’m wondering how different it could really be? I’m sure the X-specific features make for a slightly different experience, but I’m already used to the iPhone 6 and iPad Pro being a little different. I also have more patience for being an early adopter than most, so I expect there to be some tweaking and improving of the X-specific features as time goes on.

No I don't agree.

The X is different.

In a week people will never look back on old technology.

Are you implying that your commentary offers a new or different take?

YouTube and Twitter stars have ruined society.

yeah I wanted to give my feedback and my experience for others to read and discuss
