if iphone 8 had 3 gb ram and dual cameras and bigger battery id get the 8.
oh wait, that's the X.

basically apple addressing the 3 biggest complaints about the iphone 7.

I’d never heard of him but it seems he’s a guy who has taken the time and effort to do a pretty good analysis. If you don’t agree with him then fair enough. It doesn’t make his opinion void or something others can’t relate to.
The thing is, which phone you like is purely subjective, and subjective opinions have no authority figures.

No matter how much time and effort he spent, won’t make his opinion any better than anyone else’s, especially my own.

Well not exactly. I have both the iPhone 8 and the iPhone X and I feel like the 8 is easier to use. The X is nice though. I use it as well.

What iPhone model you like still boils down to preference. I find the X to be much more fluid - for me. My fingerprints are hard to read so the touch ID would sometimes take several times or I would just put in my pass code. Face ID works for me every time.

Would I have liked it to be more plus size - yes but my last iPhone was a 7+. But I am getting use to it's size and am finding I prefer it now.

went from 7 Plus to X and wouldn't even consider going back. The X is superior and far more intuitive than the 7/8...one day in and it felt perfect.

Highlighting the reachability disadvantage of the X compared to the 8 might be useful to some people though. I’m sure satisfied X owners hate any form comparison like this unless it’s in glowing favour, but hey. It’s good to have balanced feedback.

If this guy had compared these phones and been entirely positive towards the X, his opinion wouldn’t have been attacked in this section of the forum.

I just had a play with the X for the first time today in an Apple store & found it very easy to get used to....granted, i've read a lot on its features/gestures, so knew all about them, but it was a very intuitive experience.

I also had no issue reaching the top-right corner with my left thumb to access Control Centre....i've got the phone swivel/shimmy down-pat......it's really the perfect sized phone with a UI that complements the hardware.

The X is a prototype phone, imo.
You mean you've read what others have said in response to Apple saying the X represents the next evolution of iPhone for the future, and are just repeating it?

On topic though, I must admit, when I picked up my daughters new iPhone 8 the other day and set it up, I was like this is the perfect size really, not quite as wide, thinner and much lighter than the X. While I don't look at the X as a prototype (being pedantic, it's not, it's a product on general sale), I do think that future generations and iterations will see smaller and larger variants of to cater for the different needs and markets. I'd actually be happy with a smaller version, but maybe this is because I came from the SE which IMO is perfect as a "phone first" device.

The only major difference is removal of home button which is replaced by gestures.

I don't think there is any difference in using apps, including messaging and social networks.

I can kinda relate to your thinking. While I don't have the X, I do have the Samsing S8. It does not have
physical home button, and the touch I.D. is on back of the phone. The 6s plus I have just seems easier to unlock. I use both phones and go back and forth between the two.

Well when factoring the $300 sams club gift card I got and waived upgrade fee. Making the 8 plus $500 cheaper than the X for me.

I liked my 8 plus twice as much as my iPhone X. So I returned my iPhone X twice!

swipe gesture's are much easier for me. It's way better than pressing home button to go home every time. Switching between apps are so easy. You just get used to it so easily. Love the the X and never going back.

Yeah it just doesn’t feel as refined or “perfected” as the iPhone 8.

The iPhone 8 feels like the creator(s) of it have mastered it.

It feels like this is their best work for this form factor and design.

iPhone X...not so much. I feel like there’s ample room to make it a lot better.

And given I do the same things on both...it just makes sense from one perspective to use the device that makes my experience easier overall...

Yeah but I added commentary

If the 8 had oled and slightly smaller bezels it would be perfect

Twice as much eh? You able to quantify that for us? Sounds to me like you don't really know what you want and are more susceptible to peer pressure.

I’ve had an iPhone 8 for awhile and it’s amazing. Super fast, everything’s fluid, True Tone is incredible, cameras good, and fast charging changed my life haha.

But the I decided to buy an iPhone X and it is BANANAS. That screen is off the wall, edge to edge, I mean this thing is the greatest phone in like the history of phones. There’s never been something so great in the smartphone world produced ever. The SPEAKERS omg, they sound so good.

But I feel like the iPhone 8 is easier to use. My iPhone is mainly a social tool for me. It keeps me connected with people and the world. And from that perspective, as a tool, I find it easier to hold, check messages, and just use.

The iPhone X gives me an amazing experience with that amazing screen but is harder to hold and do the things I do on an iPhone. I wish it were lighter, and just easier to do things.

Even swiping up isn’t as easy and clicking the home button IMO.

Control center is hard to access compared to iPhone 8, checking notifications as well.

I also use reach ability often and on iPhone 8 super easy. But it’s hit or miss for me on iPhone X.

It just seems like the things I do on iPhone are easier to do on iPhone 8 than iPhone X, even though iPhone X is bananas and iPhone 8 is great, but boring to some bc it’s something we all are familiar with given it’s similar form factor to previous iPhones.

No. For everyone else: YMMV.

Well it should be! The iPhone 8 has been around for 3 years now.

Although it was originally called the iPhone 6...
