Believe it or not, some people still don't have iPads ;) I tried it and just couldn't find much use, so it's still MBP whether it's at the desk, on the couch, or in bed :)

I use my 15" rMBP in bed all the time, my iPad works too when I want to just watch media.

But sometimes, I feel like doing some work and I'd rather grab my rMBP.

Everyone? Really?

And why specifically 2011? I guess 2008 just wasn't a good year to bring your MBP into bed for some nightly reading.

She said 2011 and PRIOR. 'Prior' would include 2008. I'm sure your local community college offers a course in remedial reading. You should look into that. ;-)

Nah, I should wear my glasses more often :)

What stand do you use? One reason i stopped doing this, or a lotless over the past year is cause i was told it will kill your laptop internals running it on bedsheets, fabric, even your own clothes.

I used to put it on a binder but it was a pain to lug a huge binder each time to bed.

I just use a standard laptop lap desk that you can find in many electronics stores. I only use the lap desk when lying in bed or in sofa though. I figured I don't want my MBA to collect dust and impede air flow. Any laptop should be fine to use on the bed as long as they sit on a flat lap desk.

Is it just me, or does using your MBP/rMBP on your chest/stomach while lying down sound really uncomfortable? I rarely use my rMBP in bed, and if I do it's while I'm sitting up, with the computer on my lap. For me, a desk or sofa is much more comfortable.

Yep. I'm sitting up right now.

I can't imagine doing a lot with a tablet if I had to type.

Like 80% of the time! I have a bad back and lying down is allot more comfortable than sitting....I have my desk right next to my bed but I ended up getting a "breakfast in bed" style laptop in bed desk thingy. My bed is covered in hard drives, etc. It works for me lol. I guess it might be a problem when I'm not single but I'll figure it out. Maybe an overhead floating desk with a switch by my night stand that makes it come down like some futuristic action movie or something.

EDIT: If I get an iMac I believe I could still find a way to use it in bed but if I get a Mac Pro I'm definitely going to have to go with the overhead floating desk that comes out of the ceiling....then again I can probably just lie the "canister" on its side, I need a display that is connected to a keyboard and trackpad just like a laptop but bigger....maybe have it custom made? Or use remote control from my rMBP...interesting thoughts lol.

Standzfree = iPad in bed only. This thing rotates and has a bendable goose neck. Best purchase ever. I like the touch UI over laptop in bed personally.

Yes I do. My MBP is my main PC. I have an iPad but find the keyboard annoying and an iMac, but my every day "go to" is the MBP.
I just fluff up the big European Pillows so I am sitting partially up and bend my knees up and work like that, easy to use the keyboard and angle the screen.

I have to admit even though I have an iPad (mini) I don't use it near enough as I just love the MBP.

Might upgrade it to the retina one next year - seeing it is my main PC.

Normally all the time... 15R

Picked up an iPad and that took its place for a while however I still feel so limited on the iPad. It is getting returned and ill be back to my trusty macbook.

Love this computer

when i'm in bed i concentrate on relaxing and going to bed or having it on with my love. technology is never around near or in bed with us. it just doesn't fit our lifestyle.

I sold my ipad when I got my rmbp. I found the mb to be portable and fast enough to be my main device.

I still use my phone for tapatalk forums since it's much cleaner.
