A laptop can sit on my chest or lean against my thighs while I type/scroll, or I can hold a tablet in my hands in front of my face and hope it doesn't land on my nose when I doze off.

Yeah, the laptop's still the winner in bed. ;)

Well using the MBP right now in bed for the very first time in a year and a half and have to say, it feels really awkward! Cause you have to worry about not covering the vents, your lap will get hot and its not something you can just thrown anywhere like an ipad.
But have to say its so nice to have the keyboard again!

Want to see if i can work this back into my bed routine. I love using the ipad in bed, but when i have to type a lot, its a real nousense compared to a keyboard.

How on earth do you guys use your MBPs in bed? Are we talking sitting up against the headboard or lying down?

I just can't imagine it being comfortable using my MBP in bed. This is the lightest, thinnest, 15 inch rMBP I've ever had - and it still seems way too clunky for bed.

Laying down, knees up slightly (to rest the laptop against the thighs), head tilted upward resting against the pillow by the wall/headboard.

Since I've had an ipad the past 3-4 yrs I've never taken my laptop into the bedroom.

An ipad is the perfect bed device other than a woman:D

My heart has been stolen by a Mac Pro hooked up to a 24 inch Dell and assorted FireWire and USB spaghetti. My missus would have an uncontrollable chain reaction if I took that to bed :D

Also, your self-restraint is probably why you have a missus. Me, on the other hand....

Although I have a 27 inch Apple monitor, I use my 2013 15 inch rmbp in bed quite frequently to watch movies, YouTube, etc. I use a Raindesign laptop stand so that the vent doesn't get blocked by the blankets.

I'll use my MBP in bed to write in my journal, write letters, and when visiting websites that I will likely be typing on (MacRumors). We used it to stream Netflix but recently (finally) upgraded to a Blue Ray player and got a smart TV and now watch them on the TV. If I'm watching something myself, something my wife doesn't care to watch, I'll use my Air. The Netflix app works great and the retina screen is stunning.

My wife babied me the other night. I was sick, she put me to bed @ 6pm & I asked her to set the Mac on the nightstand & start a movie on Amazon Prime. She even adjusted the screen for me.

I stopped using my MBP on my futon because it feels uncomfortable. Steve Jobs knows how I feel when he invented iPad. I love using my iPad on my California sized bed. :apple:
