It's usually the people that have never tried a mac. I'm on my first one, and I love it. Never going back.

Now, when I'm at school I'll be working with some Microsoft user, and you kind of feel bad for them. Haha, "ah man I can't use that printer boo-hoo". And you take a look at their tiny little trackpad. And every time I have to use some else's microsoft laptop, I find myself trying to do gestures, it catches me off guard each and every time. But I digress. I'm incredibly happy with my Macbook, if they want to stick with microsoft because of prior precedence, ok.

bashing any company doesn't bother me in the slightest. everyone can have their own opinions. what does bother me is the spreading of misinformation.

That goes on here more than pretty much any other message board I've ever visited. Many people here view products which aren't from Apple as inferior (particularly those from Microsoft or Dell). An example of this was recently seen in the MacBook forum, where a user argued that the MacBook was "technically superior" to the latest Dell Studio XPS 13 when in fact every core component was worse, including the CPU.

In my experience, Mac OS X does a much worse job of communicating with peripherals than Windows does. I've come across countless devices which receive regular driver updates on Windows, but unless the driver is included with Mac OS X then you're out of luck for getting it to work on your Mac.

IMO, there isn't as much bashing going on these days. back in the 90s, if you were a mac user people thought you were completely nuts... today there's more actual curiosity about the OS and hardware.

There are still annoying smug users on both sides, but I think enough regular people use apple products these days that it's pretty hard to pick on them anymore.

What I like about having used both is now I can say with confidence, OSX beats Windows. Game companies may like to avoid/delay OSX on some titles, and that is unfortunate, but overall just looking at the OS, Apple has Microsoft beat.

For you. OSX beats Windows for you. It beats Windows for my purposes too, but for many people it just isn't the best choice. We have our personal preferences, but it is important that we recognize that they are preferences and not universal truths.

Very true. I like Macs for my desktops but for my notebooks, I use HPs. I had a MacBook Pro and a MacBook but sold them back in August because I liked my Windows notebooks better. Yes, I tried the Bootcamp thing and wasn't happy.

I couldn't care any less whether or not you despise Apple, although I am slightly bothered by mindless hatred on a bad or premiss (such as "Macs don't have right-click, Macs can do Windows").

All in all, however, I believe it should be the company's concern to allay these fears and destroy the myths.

Agreed.

Anyway, I probably have a personal preference.

And yes, to the point that I am a Mac fanboy. But I also realize that the words out of SJ's mouth at Macworlds are more often BS than anybody I have ever heard/read, including Bill Gates.

But Apple speaks for itself w/o bizarre claims from SJ and uber-Mac fanboys.
