Hey all! I'm strongly considering a 2018 Mac Mini. The monitor that I was planning on getting (LG 29" Ultrawide) is going to be on sale for Black Friday, and I want to know if it will work for the Mini. It has a resolution of 2560x1080.

Does anyone have experience with an Ultrawide monitor for their new Mac Mini? Will it support this monitor?

Thanks!

Yeah, it works quite well with my 3440x1440 monitor.

It works absolutely fine on my 2014 MBP with integrated Iris graphics so I’m sure the mini will be fine too.

Do you have "entering power saving mode then won't wake up unless restart" problem with the Dell ?
My Dell U3415W has this problem with Mac Mini and I can't fix it.

No but I did occasionally have a similar problem with my Samsung S32850T before I got the Dell. I had to power cycle the monitor sometimes when waking the Mac up.

I currently have a i5/16gb/256gb and am using a 31.5inch Acer display (2560 x 1440). No problem with this display at all.

I really want to get a 32inch 4k display so am currently looking at black friday deals.

Considering getting an ultrawide myself. Are you referring to the 29UM69G-B deal, or is there another?

I haven’t seen any Thunderbolt 3 4K monitors that size on any Black Friday sales. I’m probably just going to pay $593 for the BenQ EW3270U. It has a VESA mount, so I will walk mount it with a swivel and it can double as a PS4 montitor.

I just picked up the Samsung S27H850 from frys(on sale now) and works perfectly with my Mac mini. I plan to pick up another one here soon. So far I really like it.

I'm in the UK & am looking at this monitor: https://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/comp...tra-hd-32-led-monitor-black-10181381-pdt.html

can be connected by HDMI 2.0 but am a little apprehensive after reading posts on this forum, hope my i5 will work fine with it

Piping back in here: I got my (new 2018) Mac Mini hooked up to my LG 29WK600-W display yesterday and it works very well. Screen looks fantastic, wakes from startup/sleep with no problem. For anyone still on the fence, I can vouch that this setup works well.

Thanks to everyone who helped me make the decision =)

I haven’t tried a Dell monitor but I have that problem occasionally on my Lenovo on my iMac Pro and even the Apple Cinema Displays. Maybe it’s the USB-C connection that’s the issue?

Hey Guys,

I have a 2012 late Mac Mini, with Mojave on it. I bought a monitor few days ago, and I met the issue which many of us had. 2560x1080 resolution didn't worked. After spending hours trying to find out what to do, suddenly I've found the solution. It is QuickRes app. It is not a free software, but anyway... it solved the problem.

UPDATE! After an OSx update, it didn't worked again. I tried to reinstall quickres, but it wasn't successful. After hours spending with the search for solution, finally I've found it.

This:
CoreDisplay-patcher.command
BUT it wasn't that simple. You should locate the downloaded file and put the following after the .command filename: "patch v5"

It worked, now I'm happy :)

It didn't worked for me. There are many threads in forums with detailed instructions for SwitchResX. I really tried every of it, without success. This was the reason why I felt that I should share this solution with you :)

SwitchResX also works and you can get for free.
