Does the camera need an upgrade for you to buy the next iPhone?

My boss just bought a Nokia lumina 1020 and the fun he has with the 41megapixel camera is really making me think. (I am not mentioning the ridiculous low price)

41 is overdone but 12 to 18 would be nice indeed for the next iPhone.

How do the pictures look compared to the 5s? By your tone it sounds like its night and day

The camera gets better with every iPhone release so I see no reason to believe the 6 might be different. That being said, the 5S camera is no slouch as it is. It still ranks among the best smartphone cameras.

The iPhone 5 got the very same Sensor as did the 4S. So it might be possible Apple again follows this pattern, but I doubt it, since their stronger focus on making photos with your iPhone is indisputable in recent times.

I don't understand the "I've got my SLR for photos" comments. For those people, I would like to ask:
- Does your SLR fit in your pocket?
- Does it connect to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Whatsapp, iMessage (whatever)? Can you immediately upload the photos to Dropbox?
- Can you edit your photos on your SLR?
- Do you always take it with you so that you can take photos even when you didn't expect to beforehand?

Definitive "no" to all of those questions for me. I prefer the iPhone to any SLR out there. That's why the quality of the iPhone camera matters.

I have over $8k in DSLR camera gear for good images. The iPhone is an always there camera that takes OK images, so an upgrade in quality (not necessarily megapixels) would be welcome, but not a requirement for me tu upgrade from the iPhone 5 to the 6

Coming from a 4s, I naturally voted no because iPhone 6 will be an upgrade regardless.

I don't rely on my iPhone as much for photographs as I have a couple smaller dslrs that function as P&S cameras for me.
