My worker dragging it on the dusty monitor happened yesterday so it wasn't in my reply on Reddit.

I wiped the display phone vigorously twice, the second time was after the back was clean. I did notice new marks. When I say wipe it on my jeans I don't mean just gliding it over, I mean really rubbing it in your jeans for a good 10 seconds or more.

I don't expect the Jet Black finish would scratch as bad as an iPod Classic because they're different materials with different finishes, just providing my personal experience as a user who runs my phones naked. Realistically there will always be micro particles on clothing, and i upgrade yearly so it doesn't bother me.

Okay, if in the end, the scratches on the display unit are literally only visible if you look in at it in a certain angle, then that's expected. People are under the false impression that the JB is easier to scratch and that's not the case. The glossy black finish simply shows them more easily even if the same scratches are present on glossy white finish.

I fully expect my JB to look the same (or better) than my black iPhone 3GS after one year, as I'm treating them exactly the same (wiping on my jeans, etc.).

Exactly... the Jet Black models are the same strength as the other colors, the finish just show the scratches easier. People who believe false lies need to get off the internet. The 3G/3GS back was made of plastic and the properties of plastic compared to aluminum + the JB finish are totally different, but people believe they scratch the same which makes no sense.

Apple put a disclaimer for the finish, not sure why people can't understand what it means.

Saw the words "Jet Black" and "scratch" in title, came in thread expecting troll MacTechnic posts... was not disappointed.

Man you must hate your matte black phone :D :D :D

No wiping it with a soft cloth won't scratch the phone. I've been doing it for a week.

Hell, I've been wiping my JB+ with my dress shirts and polo shirts and it has 0 scratches... 0. Guess what else I used to wipe with my shirts? The matte black 7+ (had it for 3 days, returned it for JB), space gray 6s+, space gray 6+, silver 5. Did they scratch? Nope.

As of today, the only thing I'm doing to protect it, is a sleeve I bought from amazon. Things tend to fall out of my pocket.

I want to order my phone today, I was going to get rose gold now im torn between jet black and matte black, if I get jet black and wipe it with a really soft cloth will scratches appear on it and if I keep it in a case will scartches still appear?

You really have to be looking for the scratches at a certain angle. It does scratch easily. I did put a Zagg back protector on my phone yesterday. Liking it so far and waiting for it completely heal.

Can you post pics?

LOL Jet Black is such a gimmick

What is your problem? Are you sitting there taking glee in crapping in JB owners cereal and getting frustrated that some of us bought it anyway...because it's a stupid phone. It's not a car. It's not a work of art. It's a tool in a colour I like.

I'll use it like my 6S Plus, and 6 Plus, and 5S and 4 - caseless and not caring if it gets a couple of scratches...because it's only a phone.

Guess what - my launch day 6 Plus my husband is still using was used caseless, carried in my back pocket, sat on, dropped, and isn't bent. It was over $1000 as well. Oooooh but shouldn't it have bent the way internet trolls giggled and gloated about?

The only thing I learned in this thread is that some people behave like petulant spoilt brats trying to piss on others choices. I'm surprised you aren't at a Samsung board gloating about how Notes batteries exploding and running owners faces in it.

I'm sorry you seem to have wanted the jet black but were so concerned about a scuff...on a PHONE... that you went with matte and seem to have buyers remorse. That's the only explanation for your behaviour. Do everyone a favour and just shut. Up. Already.

ordered it in jb and bought a white case for it, I dont think it will scratch, I think they only scratch when people are wiping them against their t shirt or jeans.

Nope, I've been wiping my JB on my jeans and shirts with no ill effects.

If, however, there's a particle stuck on the shirt (i.e., a dirty shirt) you're likely to scratch it. It's more common if you live near a beach (sand).

will wiping the phone with a cloth make it have circle scratches like what is on a car?
