Much faster to text two handed. I've done that on every iPhone I've owned, and every other phone, too.

pretty much, just like it's fastest to type on my keyboard 2 handed! I really don't understand these one handers. On another threat a guy was saying it will be dangerous because he will need to take 2 hands off the steering wheel to text. He was not even joking, he was serious.

Hey siri! can you drive for me? I need write a text on my 5.5" iPhone while driving.

Sorry @ss wipe, I do not have a licence to drive. Would you like me to text for you?

i use two hands now to text.

when i'm in my car... my car will text for me, no hands needed.

i'm 100% comfortable with my choice.

Neither statement is accurate. Lots of people here OWN Android phones and lots of people are getting a 6 or aren't upgrading at all.

There is always a contingent that criticize everything Apple chooses not to do. There's another contingent that criticizes everything they choose to do. There's still another that assumes their preferences are universal and Apple should build the products they want despite it being painfully clear they'd never sell.

In short there's a wide variety of opinion. There's no everyone here.

I don't really see much opposition against it now. Now that Apple has 5.5" phone with the largest phone print, the opposition seems to have gone away.

So many apologetics that the even deny there was even oppositions.

After downloading and printing out the drawings, I immediately knew the 4.7 would be better. In addition, the last few days I've been paying closer attention to my one-handed texting and phone operating habits. It was astonishing to learn how much functionality I would be giving up going all the way up to 5.5. 4.7 is a comfortable jump while still having one handed functionality. Everyone keeps thinking about how it will fit into pockets. What about one handed operation?? Does it matter to anyone?

This is my primary concern about getting the 6+. I use my 5S one handed all the time. Walking around shopping carrying stuff in one hand, phone in the other, sitting at the table eating something with one hand, phone in the other. Even just standing around, I find I use one hand because it's quick/informal/casual ... not a "I GOT TWO HANDS WORKIN' THIS THING" type of ordeal.

I'm still conflicted.

See, my thing is my usage habits can be tailored to the device. Yeah, I do use one hand a lot now. But if I have a bigger phone, all it will take is for me to adjust my usage to using two hands instead. Then I also can take advantage of the bigger screen and all the other goodies. It seems backwards to not go for what's probably the "better" product because of a preference that can be changed.

Exactly. It would seem alien at first but you can adapt. It's all about tradeoffs....would you like a bigger screen for x/y/z? Are you prepared to give up 100% one-handed use to get this bigger screen?

Fortunately, for this coming year at least, the 5S is not really any worse than the i6 for those who would prefer a smaller phone. The performance increases are negligible, it's all about the screen size this year and maybe those who aren't quite sold on the idea of a bigger phone should upgrade in stages? The 4.7" this year and the 5.5" at their next upgrade point?

I have a Galaxy Note 3 and have no problems with one handed texts, especially with Swype/SwiftKey so I'm not worried at all

Same here. Note 3 here and no problem with one handed use but I do prefer using both hands.

And yes I will be moving to the IPhone 6 plus in mid October :)

Yeah, but now that Apple has embraced 1920x1080 HD big phone screens, NOW it's ok. Before they didn't have that option, so it wasn't ok. See how that works?

This is the reason I choose the 6. I generally choose to text with two hands when I can but need to use the phone one handed a lot.

I'm not willing to give that up. And certainly am not willing to give it up for a phone that doesn't provide any functional benefit over it's smaller counterpart. At least the note has the s pen and split screen apps. The 6+ is just a big iphone.

Even with the 5 and the 5s I always texted using 2 hands. It's just faster for me that way. So no I'm not worried about that.

Exactly. If I text with one hand, it takes me forever. The only time I use my phone one-handed, is if I browse in bed. Apple sorted that issue out with reachability. Then you have Swype and all those other software conveniences that'll make those times a breeze.

Yes. I like using my phone with one hand and with my tiny baby hands would be difficult to use with one hand

iPhone 6-64GB for me

With the size of my hands, and in particular my hammerhead thumbs, I can barely type one-handed on my iPhone 5, for any reason. So this is the least of my concerns with the 6+, since I won't even bother trying.

Since I use my iPhone for reading and watching videos the vast majority of the time (and only rarely to make calls), but have no want of carrying around an iPad or an e-reader in addition to a phone, I figure the 6+ form factor was the right move.

Personally, I never made fun of the larger 'droids. In fact it was the size of the Galaxy S3 that made me almost jump ship a couple years ago, and I've been jealous of my friend's extra large Nokia Windows Phone which he calls "Gigantor". No way was I gonna pass up the 6+ this time around.

iOS 8 supports 3rd party keyboards such as Swype, once Swype is released, it is a one handed keyboard, that is proven (with world records) to be the fastest way to type on a smart phone. It was the LAST thing holding me back other than screen size in buying an iPhone. Didn't mind not typing on iPAD but for a phone was a deal breaker.

I have to disagree. I have a note 3 and when i text one handed it is real hard to reach left side of keyboard with thumb...always fumbling around with phone and fighting to keep it from fallin out of my hand....and one hand operation on home screen is not good either cuz cant reach top or left side icons with thumb...if yor gonna carry an air or mini lte with u then get the 4.7 for one hand operation and use it for text and calls. And yor tablet with that wide 4.3 ratio for internet..and .dont think that the 5.5 is gonna replace yor mini for internet cuz 5.5 with that narrow aspect ratio isnt gonna cut it..i switched back from my note 3 to my old iphone 5 for about a week recently and really loved having the one hand operation back.

I'd say I'm surprised by that....but given all the text-related accidents...

There's a reason why so many states have or will outlaw that.

Put the damn phone down and drive undistracted. The text can wait until you've stopped.

Also one handers = inefficient. Takes twice as long unless you're really good at it.

I can't wait!

My thumb is way to big to accurately type 100% of the time on the tiny Apple keyboard. I'll appreciate a bigger keys and additional spacing between them.

LOL. Can't wait to see people trying to use this phone one handed. I've already experienced trying to use a phone this big with one hand. Put simply; Ain't gonna happen. And I have big hands.

LOL. Again, I never said using the phone one-handed was going to be easy. I said Swype would help for one-handed texting

I only text one handed when riding a motorcycle or shooting a pistol, so I am not too worried.
