The media only care about money and trump gets them a lot of attention which gets them more money. They all likely hate him but they can't stand the thought of not reaping the rewards of reporting on him.

Trump is a ratings machine. I'm so tired of seeing/hearing him. Non-partisan statement. I reach for the remote whenever Trump or Clinton are on. Not willing to listen to people who yell all the time.

The only thing worth mentioning about Trump is his airdrome haircut.
As a bombardment target it will surely attract a lot of mexican pigeons in transit.

Trump the chump. Wanting Apple (and others, by example) to create a back door and boost his political appeal because it protects national interest. Yet when the back door unhinges and becomes the problem that Apple and other IT companies fear it will become, where will these political clowns be?

Trump is an idiot who inherited millions upon millions from his father. He went bankrupt several times and has sold his name for billions.

He has no solutions. While Sanders is pie in the sky, Trump has no concrete plans aside from "I'm great" and certainly no respect or understanding of nuance or law.

Having a larger than life personality doesn't make you smart, nor does it make you qualified. He has tapped into frustration, but unfortunately, some people have a very shallow knowledge of government. Saying Trump magically became a billionaire is easy. Do you think Kim Kardashian deserves to be president? Or Paris Hilton?

Fun fact, and completely unsubstantiated. My dad was hanging with Trump when Nikki Hilton was born at a sports game and trump announces "another person has joined the lucky [inappropriate] club" and my dad looked at him, knowing Fred personally, and said "and you're not?"

Also Trump is not quite a conservative: he isn't against growth of government, or growth of taxes (so he isn't an economic conservative). He's not against abortion and hasn't been against gays...so he's not a religious or social conservative. Not that he will censor himself or go to church...

In fact, how does he explain these lack of nuance and ideology to his supporters? Trust me, I'm a self made billionaire who threatens to sue everyone, abuses bankruptcy law, hoodwinks investors through dubious schemes, and I'll do it better regardless of the law cause I'm great.

Trump channels anti-Americanism and tries to appeal to the right. Apple here is clearly standing for the constitution. And if you follow my posts, I'm extremely cynical about Apple normally. I also believe iMessage is a more or less secure medium and have no desire to see people destroy this. The truth is people have a right to privacy, and before cell phones and recorders existed it was impossible to get these kinds of conversations. And civilization didn't collapse.

You're claiming an absolute, from a biased perspective may I remind you, that Trump is an idiot. Not that I disagree his views may be off the wall, but the same could be said about Sanders from someone who's from the right side.

Edit: I mean really think about it. Do you think Trump is really that big of an idiot? He magically became a billionaire? Regardless of whether he became that because he's the nicest guy in the world or the biggest back stabber, either one requires intelligence. Why do you think he's running? It could be he thinks he honestly could do a better job or he could be sabotaging the whole Republican candidacy to make sure a Democrat gets in office. Yes those are extremes and it could be anywhere in the middle, but neither Sanders or Trump are idiots. Otherwise they wouldn't be were they are. Politics is all about calculated risk and jumping at the right opportunities. Public perception is what they want you to buy into.

"I agree 100 percent with the courts. In that case, we should open it up." [...] "I think security, overall, we have to open it up and we have to use our heads. We have to use common sense,"

My respect for the current president just went so many notches higher. This guy is hilarious. He does not have the gravity that the current president does.

I seriously don't see how so many people are supporting this idiot. We need to seriously be concerned for this country if he was to become president. He's going to make this country a definite enemy to a lot of people and countries with the complete BS that constantly comes out of his mouth.

The man scares the hell out of me, and this is yet another example of what an uninformed moron he is. The only thing scarier than Donald is the number of Americans supporting his rants. I never thought anyone would actually vote for him. Obviously, I overestimated my fellow citizens.

A Trump-initiated boycott makes me want to go out and buy more Apple devices!

First off, the 'oh both sides are crazy and I am above it all' is both intellectually lazy and morally bankrupt. Both sides are not always equally wrong, both sides are not always equally at fault. But it's easy to sound superior without any actual knowledge to base your opinions on if you claim they are.

Edit: I mean really think about it. Do you think Trump is really that big of an idiot? He magically became a billionaire?

Actually... yeah, it turns out. He got his money by getting huge loans from his family. And it's much easier to make $2 million from $1 million than it is to make your first million. Plus, as has been pointed out dozens of times but which somehow never penetrates, Donald Trump, over the past 30 years, has actually made less money than he would have if he'd just invested his money in a stock market index fund and retired, and that's even if we assume that he's not outright lying about his current net worth, which Forbes says he is.

Example source.

So yes. Trump is a big blowhard and a bully, who likes to advertise his amazing prowess at business, but in fact he's done very, very poorly. Despite his having plenty of money to hire very competent people.

Dumping Trump. I did like him at one point but he is too "stoopit" to be president. In fact all these options are bad.

Calm down on the name calling. What we see, not sure if you are an American voter or not, is you have crazy on left and crazy on right. Why? Because people are sick of the same old system. Presidents from the last 30,40+ years have achieved the same thing. The only difference is they have a D or an R attached to their name and verbally pander to their voter base.

People just wanted something different for a change. At this point it's a "who cares, what harm can really be done in 4 years. Lets see what happens." As crazy as Trump is, so is Sanders and vise versa but at least it's different. Hmm.. where have I seen that before.. "Think Different".

Says a UK resident. Thanks but no thanks. We'll deal with our own political system thank you very much. And that's regardless of the candidate. I'm sick of so many Europeans and Canadians piping in with their "words of wisdom" of how the US should be run.

That's because, from where we're sitting, it's being run badly. Although we tend to quite like Obama over here.

Now, I don't live in the USA. But how can anyone in their right mind even consider voting on Trump? I don't get it..

I wouldn't trust him having the finger on the button one single second...

Trump, named after a fart or the fruits of flabby woof woofs or a queef.

How has he not been arrested for hate speech? The US political system seems based around who can be the biggest skank and moron, like an episode of the kardasians. I'm surprised we haven't see him in a sex tape with ray jay yet!

If the US elects this less than sub human trash i'll be gobsmacked and so disappointed.

Yes let's follow the words of a man who beat and raped his first wife. He typifies EVERYTHING wrong with the US, he is nothing but a disgusting bully. I would be amazed if the vast majority of his white trash supporters would understand an Apple product (and that is not difficult).

Moments after all of this is over, after Trump (hopefully) loses his campaign, there will be a sobering overview of his campaign and those who supported him.

Maybe he'll post an apology from an iPhone.

You can USE a product you already own while still boycotting a company? Does that just mean you don't buy any new stuff from them? I don't get the controversy here, not to defend DJT. That said how is buying Samsung products going to be any better for America? Than NONE of the money comes to America instead of some.

Because…..

It would be sweet if Tim were to crack Trump's phone now and anonymously spread something private.

I don't agree with the government (or Trump) on this issue, but you are being hypocritical here. Either you believe in privacy or you don't. You can't say you support Apple on this and then say you think it would be great if they cracked Trump's phone.

And you do realize that you are supporting Apple to not open a MURDERING TERRORIST'S phone, but you think it would be okay to crack open the phone of a rogue politician/entertainer. That's right, target political opponents, not people who go on mass killings.

It's privacy for all or for none, folks.

Why do people like this idiot?
I'm trying to find out. Years ago I used to vote for our centre-right party. I can understand the appeal of right wing politics, or rather I can understand that we go through different political eras where one party is better suited than another.

But Donald Trump. I don't understand it. I'm not American so I don't know how real he is, but I can't shake the feeling he's some kind of joke that isn't translating well.

I can't speak for the poster you replied to, but I get the impression that was sarcasm. Also "MURDERING TERRORIST" in full caps. I wish I could find the post now but recently someone here posted along the lines of "the US has X number of gun related deaths a year but nothing is done. The US has 15 people killed by a terrorist with guns and they want to throw privacy away". I do the original quote no justice.

Why do people like this idiot?

People tend to gravitate towards others who they think share common beliefs.

On topic, maybe MacRumors and other media outlets should start boycotting Trump. Who the **** cares what this airhead thinks?
