Plus you would het an extra USB A port as well. Hootoo I think has 3? So when you're not in need of SD Card reader adapter on too of this you have more USB A slots available.
I dont really need all those USB Port, the max I plan to connect is a USB mouse.
Though since it does not have USB C pass through, it draws power only from the USB-C Port. Will it be able to power an external HDD (one of the main reason I want a hub)

Anyone knows a good USB-c SD Card reader ?
Apple sells a Sandisk one for $50. Supports the crazy fast speeds too. It's what I purchased.

I prefer to spend a few bucks more and know everything will work perfectly.

.... I would wait a few minutes and save on the $$$ :p
Different priorities.
I am just thinking of getting a USB 3 card reader and use it with the Aukey USB c to USB A 3.0 hub I am getting

I asked on their Amazon page, and some one replied it should....

I prefer to have the SD card reader built into the laptop and not look around for the SD card reader.

Just have more disposable money and a low tolerance for flaky devices.
And I am a student that has been saving for the new laptop from his part time job since january... Already dished out 1600 Euro for the laptop :p want to save as much as i can on dongles and sleeve

Since I haven't read all previous pages, sorry if this has been discussed already.

A no-brainer for those of us wary of leaving MagSafe behind would be this:

But I've heard there are issues with power supply and third-party accessories. Still, they seem to directly aim it at new MBP users, and Griffin is a reputable outfit that's been around a while.

From What i read, they can handle up to 59W of power, so its way under powered for MBPr 15 inch, but should work for 13 inch

Good grief, $40 just for a power cable? And it's not a Power+Data cable?

Apple really blew it by leaving off the old connectors. Yuck.

Yeah, not cheap. But consider it 'insurance.' MagSafe has saved by Air at least a couple times when students come up after class and manage to entangle themselves in even the most carefully placed wires.

I have the 2015 MacBook Retina. I prefer it to this new MacBook. I'm not willing to replace all my accessories and start carrying dongles around again, like I did with MacBook Air.

PrimeCables just arrived! Seems pretty good. Now waiting on the MBP to ship.

Why are you here posting on a thread to talk about dongles? Just felt like trolling?
No, not at all. I think MacBook Pro buyers today should buy the "old" Retina model, and they will be very disappointed using a MacBook which offers nothing but USB Type-C connectivity.
