I'm still wondering why one would have an air in the tv room, and a mini in the living room. Jesh, some folks just can't get enough I guess.
If you are happy with your mini you either don't care, are colour blind...
Any criticism of any Apple product or policy on a Mac forum is going touch a nerve, due to the religious-like relationship many users have with Apple.
If the original poster had praised the Retina Mini, everyone in the church choir would be smiling and patting him on the back.
Members might ask themselves....
Why is it wrong for the OP to proclaim people should not buy an Apple product based on his personal experience, but....
It would be perfectly OK for the OP to proclaim people should buy an Apple product based on his personal experience?
Who cares about the Retina Mini? Not me. Apple community culture is far more interesting.
I suggest that each reader creates the tone of the thread within their own mind. I read the same OP as you did, and I didn't experience any tone problem.
What we're seeing now is another classic property of Apple culture.
Whatever is wrong, it's always the user's fault.
Therefore, if some readers are experiencing a tone problem, it must be the fault of the original poster. The original poster is clearly using mind control techniques to take control of our brains and force us to experience the thread in a tonally flawed manner.
And now he is forcing me to become his public defender!!! HEEELLLLPPPPPPP!!!!!!
And now you're presenting your opinion as pure fact, and insulting the OP because you disagree with him.
Products don't have egos, it's ok to bash them, they don't mind.![]()
Sorry folks but what ever all you colour blinded apple fans think, it has been proven and it is fact, the mini colours are no where as nice as the air.
thread closed have a nice day![]()
Posters who believe their preferences are 'facts' always tend to amuse me
Especially when they get incensed when someone dares to disagree with them
They quickly change from champion of the truth to misunderstood martyr, a transition I always enjoy
I actually check the jeans that I buy, before I buy them, to see if the mini fits. I use the rMini almost naked with only a Skinome skin on the back, and that's why it fits in most pants back pockets.
If your gonna start an Apple bashing thread on an Apple pro site, you gotta expect for folks to jump in. Be honest, isn't that what it's all about? I don't own Apple stock and don't feel like I'm a sheep. I've bought, used and enjoyed Android tablets and I keep my son-in-law's HTC Thunderbolt running for him cause I'm a bit of a geek and he isn't. But ios is so much smoother and I'm not always screwing around in settings with my Apple devices. Sure I'm bound to jump in. See ya next time you want to start a similar thread![]()
People took issue with the unequivocal statement that "the Retina Mini is not worth it" and that people who bought it "didn't care" or were "colorblind."
Your words above are an unequivocal statement presuming to be fact, when actually they are just an expression of your own opinion.
People took issue because the OP was perceived to be attacking Apple. If the OP had made exactly the same kind of statements which were instead complimentary of the Retina Mini, nobody would have taken issue.
In short the OP annoyed me, not because he was attacking Apple, but because it felt like he was attacking me.
Probably should of titled this don't buy a retina mini if you own a iPad Air or have used one.
In comparison whites are not white and colours are washed out and have about 50% less colour than the Air.
Even just the apps look crap in comparison.
If you are happy with your mini you either don't care, are colour blind, the size is more important, or have never used a Air.
This version is not worth the $$.
Bring on the mini fans but you can't argue against the facts.
Here's the original post again.
Nothing offensive here.
Not an attack on Apple or fellow forum members

The mildest most obscure insult I have seen in 20 years of regular forum use. The original poster needs to go back to insult school, and take the class again.
An opinion expressed.
An invitation to dialog, and a claim that the poster's opinion is correct, which is why anybody has any opinion, they think it's correct.
I stand by my own claim. If the poster had asserted IT IS A FACT that the product in question was wonderful, and that you'd have to be a fool not to see that etc, no controversy at all.
It made me feel I had to defend myself.
Isn't this a opinion website. Guess if you are that big a Apple fan there is no complaining.
And you are the one who decides what this site is for? I didn't think so. Just so you know, your comment about "isn't worth it" was your opinion, so if this site isn't for opinions, get out.
White is not even white.
Also slower.
At this point, you are trolling. The CPU is about 100 MHz slower, which means that you will see no difference.
No difference in battery usage.
Robster's always telling people what kind of experience they should be having.
Nobody cares, dude.
I would like to point out that I said he hadn't insulted Apple, and even you had to agree that he insulted the people who prefer the mini, whether you view that insult as mild or not, does not stop it from being an insult.
What got my back up was not the implication that the mini isn't a perfect device, it isn't a perfect device, I agree that the mini should have the same colour range as the air.
What annoyed me was the implication that I must be deficient to prefer it. It didn't make me feel I had to defend Apple. It made me feel I had to defend myself.
I again want to point out that if the OP had simply stated that the colour gamut should be the same on the mini as on the air, I would totally be on his side.
Comments in red above ^^^
People buy the Mini for its portability. Not because it has the most accurate color reproduction.
"that people who bought it "didn't care" or were "colorblind."
Let's think about that statement. It does sound mean at first, but it's true. We all acknowledge a color difference. If you like the rmini anyway it means you simply don't care or that other factors are more important. If you're colorblind then of course it doesn't matter.
So yeah, it's true. He maybe should have mentioned other factors of why people would like the rmini despite the colors but technically everything he's said is true.

I had to register just to post this. I do not care about the washed out colors as the size is more important to me. This does not mean that the washed out colors are not important to you and I accept that, but accept the fact that I simply do not care that the colors are washed out. This does not make me a color blind apple fan, it just makes me me.
Maybe Apple should of made a black and white mini for half the price, it would sell like hot cakes, seeing as all anyone cares about is size![]()
