Just returned my ATV4!
Completely unable to set up. This is just not acceptable for any Apple product.
Would not connect to device via bluetooth for set up and on manual failed every time on date and time.
This happened on both wifi and ethernet.
So not fit for purpose suggest no one buys it until it does work.

Works absolutely fine for me. I love my Apple TV. Clearly you either have a defective unit or you're doing something wrong...

Worked fine for me.

Seems a little heavy handed to me. Get a defective unit and tell all of MR to not buy it? There may be other reasons to not buy it, but this isn't one of them.

Setup was a breeze... pairing with my iPhone 6s was surprise feature that made the process a joy. Either you had a defective unit or maybe some issue with your network? I'm sure going back to the store and swapping the unit would have easily solved your issue. I love my new Apple TV.

Very easy setup, you need iOS 9.1 or higher, but setup was a snap for me.

The software still seems beta, and Netflix seems worse, but overall it's way better then AT3, AirPlay is amazingly better, smooth and fast.

Could have been so much better, Apple really dropped the ball in many ways, but I like it so far.

Don't listen to any one person's rant... especially when his is obviously broken and we've seen 100 threads of it working for other people, with thousands of comments of using apps, watching shows, etc. Whitie54 just needs to use the return policy to get a working unit. Such a post on a forum not even managed by Apple can't do a thing for him... other than getting him pounded by 100 members of the ADF who would defend it even if their own :apple:TV wasn't working, along with a 1000 other people who are having no such problem.

Sorry, I meant it jokingly. I should have added an emoticon to the end (I just went back and did). Sounds like it's a bad unit. My AT4 setup was a breeze.

Either you're being a troll, you have a faulty unit or you're doing something wrong. I got mine yesterday and set up was easy and quick. It was a piece of cake with everything working from the beginning.

Granted even though this is my first Apple TV and even I can appreciate that there is certainly room for improvement its in no way as bad as you make it out to be. Posts like yours aren't in the least helpful and don't do the product justice.

I just received my ATV4 a couple of hours ago and it has been simple and easy to set up and the kids are already enjoying the different feature so you must be very stupid or done something very wrong

I had issues with my first one's remote not working out of the box with the ATV. However, I returned it and now the new one is perfectly fine! For Apple worshipers who believe Apple cannot have issues with new devices, guess again. It happens to ALL companies... Apple isn't exempt.

Too late! Bought one and I like it! Sorry for your experience. At least you can get your money back or do an exchange - you know that's an option unless you threw the box in a swimming pool then tried to connect it.

Obviously a dud unit. Mine is fine and works as expected. Connected to my Beats Studio Wireless and all is good. Bye one!

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your ATV4. In all seriousness though... you joined the forum today just to post and tell everyone not to buy an ATV4 based on your setup issue like it's a global problem across the board with all ATV4s. Obviously this is not a global problem as Apple has certainly sold thousands of these things already. It sounds like you simply have a dud unit and need to exchange it for another. Best of luck.

Do you think it's possible that you just had a defective one?

Considering it works for everyone else... I'll trust them.

Date and time? I set mine up both manually and via device, never had to set the time and date. My guess is you never actually connected to the internet, which would set date and time automatically via apple's time server. Either your unit is a dud and has no connectivity, or you tried to set it up when your internet was down.

I tried returning mine just now but they won't take online orders back at the store - crazy..
Setup was fine. My reason for return is/was just the lack of content or additional features over the ATV3.

Did you try to exchange it for another unit to see if it does the same thing. My ATV 4 setup was a breeze ATV working like a charm. No issues, if you said do not buy based on trying only one unit then that would be completely unfair to Apple. Maybe the device is defective etc...Try another unit and lets see what happened.
