To be honest… in todays crazy world id only want to be immersed in AVP while at home and even then not have my ears plugged of the noise in the house if no one else is around…

I like to be aware of my surroundings when traveling and when not in my own place… theres just too many crazy people and crazy stuff happening these days… not worth it at all.

Wait. So per the below article, the headset will sync your data while still plugged in and not in use, but Find My was not included? WTF
@contacos hit the nail on the head with this even if it’s a ridiculous justification—AVP itself stores zero power, and that data can only be synced while the device is plugged in. still an insane move on Apple’s part (especially if according to @truthsteve Mac minis can play a sound for Find My? good lord…).

Now I defend the AVP in a lot of situations, but I can't really defend this at all. What the hell am I reading in the year 2024 that an Apple product is not able to be found via FindMy? Not just any boring Apple product but one of the most important devices (potentially) of the decade.

Youre telling me if a thief grabbed my AVP and literally just unplugged it and took it into the next room, I would have no idea where in the United States my AVP is? This is insane lmaoooo

If they got this wrong.... what else did they get wrong?

I don't think they cared

This whole project was supposed to be some huge leap over Google Glass (supposed to be a much better AR device than G Glass) and they couldn't make it work and had to get back down to "high resolution VR device with meh pass through camera"

i.e. it was simply time to "ship something"

I see all these promo shots of the AVP being used in a plane. I wonder if there going to be any airlines objecting to its use. Obviously it won't be permitted during take off and landing, like most other devices and for good reason, but there was a time when laptops over a certain size were not permitted in the cabin. That was of course a battery issue, and the pack on the AVP isn't large enough to be a concern. Nevertheless....
Years ago, I tried to watch a movie using the Gear VR on a flight. I'm sure I got a lot of weird looks while wearing it. I do remember the attendant having to tap on my shoulder to get my attention.

The issue I had with it had more to do with the plane slightly changing direction and me having to recenter my view every few minutes. Not sure if that is still an issue with more modern headsets or not as I have never tried to bring my Quest 2 on a flight.

This will annoy a whole lot of people who were never going to buy it.

That's a MacRumors tradition. People getting super frothed up and going non-linear about a product they don't understand and will never purchase.

Going back a few years, with respect to the release of Apple Watch: "If I want to know the time, I'll just look at my iPhone"

I think most people who can afford an iPhone can afford an apple watch. This ridiculous, ugly and expensive thing is in another league though. Personally I don’t get the brain dead hype and salivating by Macrumours with their incessant posting about it filling my rss feed with spam. Nor do many others by the sounds of it.

Another MR retort and smarmy dig at SJ: "Who asked for a thousand songs in your pocket?"
