Some people have money. You can also use a tax write off since its business related. Talk to your CPA since you will be able to write most of it off.
I've been running my own business for many years now and am well versed with how to do it, but thanks for your input.
Money is not the issue-- value for money is. Paying to have the opportunity to learn from the people who are experts in their field and to network with colleagues is why you're going to WWDC, not just to listen to the Great Steve Jobs speak. Giving that up to go rush out to spend more money to buy a product seems contraindicated.
But, of course, each of us values things differently. If you're going and are happy with blowing off the show just to stand in line, more power to you.
rob.
1600 big deal. You have your CC ready, swipe and you got your iphone. Why is it so hard for you to imagine something like this? when i bought my iphone last year i was in an out of store in less then 2 minutes.
Seriously... dont. Apple is going to want lines wrapped around the block and people camping out to get it. This creates more curiosity, more enthusiasm, and more press coverage.
The phone will probably be released that Friday, or the 27th (end of the month). If I had to bet money, I'd day June 27th and 6pm.
I said that they can have the iphone at the conference for the developers. It takes you 10 minutes at the most to get the iphone AT THE CONFERENCE CENTER (therefore not having to leave the building at all) and the rest of the time is used to "network and learn".
Well if they put it on sale Friday the 13th. That willl still give them a full week to publicize it.
I'm thinking back a couple weeks, to the Grand opening of the Boston Apple Store, they only gave a few days notice maybe the Thursday or Friday beforehand. and there were close to 1,000 people in line.
No need to get all worked up. Just let it be. We will know on Monday.
No one said 1,600 developers. Where did you get that?
rob did the calculation for you assuming 100 sales people (compared to your 20) and a 2-minute purchase. It still comes out to a 2.5 hour process total.
Going "c'mon, it would work!" won't save you; doing the calculation will.
There have already been reports of Apple Stores receiving "Do not open until..." shipments. This is coming from a "reliable source" (aka a friend who works at an Apple Store).

I think Monday.![]()
They are not going to go 2 months without any iPhone sales. I expect an announcement and shipping after about a week,Seriously... dont. Apple is going to want lines wrapped around the block and people camping out to get it. This creates more curiosity, more enthusiasm, and more press coverage.

Also, people should go online to the apple store and do the apple chat thing and ask about the 3g iPhone, just to see if we have a .00000000001% chance of some newbie spilling the beans. Yes I know this won't happen but just try.
