I have already expressed the fact that I feel like everyone is overreacting to this whole issue.

Now you are taking it a step further and overreacting to the fact that I expect other drivers to be safe. Thing is I ride a motorcycle also and I will take any opportunity I get to express my disgust for people who don't take driving seriously because it is there right to do whatever they want. Don't like it? read elsewhere.

Some are overreacting, kinda like you talking about how this thread/topic has to do with killing you or your child:rolleyes:

There's no need for this nonsense.
We will do whatever we feel like wether thats talking on the phone, eating, drinking soda or whatever while driving.
That doesnt concern you at all so keep your negative and bitter comments like hope this and that happens to yourself.

Agreed. I wonder what he would say if he found out I sometimes take naps while driving. You just find yourself a good, long, wide-open stretch of road...

;)

Can anyone confirm that a double tap while the phone is locked still opens up the iPod controls? I use this while running and it makes switching songs much easier. I don't want to have to double tap, then swipe to the right just to get iPod controls. It doesn't even look like the iPod controls give much song information either anymore.

From the link below: "No state bans all cell phone use (handheld and hands-free) for all drivers, but many prohibit all cell phone use by certain drivers" (novice and bus drivers).

http://www.ghsa.org/html/stateinfo/laws/cellphone_laws.html

Reason #2 I love the Internet: Information!

Uh...

From site you linked said:
Handheld Cell Phones: 7 states (Calif., Conn., Md., N.J., N.Y., Ore. and Wash.), D.C. and the Virgin Islands prohibit all drivers from using handheld cell phones while driving.

Text Messaging: 28 states, D.C. and Guam ban text messaging for all drivers.

Yes after using iOS4 for a week or so I really do miss my double tap for my camera.

Somehow a ways back I was under the impression that your current double tap would turn into a single tap then hold.

Alwhell...

And yes I do still miss single hold for killing apps, I used that quite a bit. Since I use voice dialing on my Bluetooth almost exclusively, I could care less about voice dialing on the phone itself.

If the original feature is that important to you, then stick to an iPhone 3G. I used to use double tap for my camera and was originally taken aback. I then got used to the double tap+hold that was implemented in beta 1 for a while, but I eventually stopped using it because the camera icon was on my front page again.

Personally I think this 'feature' means it's time for a third button. I would trade multi-tasking to have the phone favorites.

Thanks to everyone who doesn't use the feature for all the unhelpful suggestions. We are all aware of how to make phone calls on the iPhone, we're just the crazy minority who believe making phone calls as conveniently as possible on a phone is pretty high on the ol' priorities list.

Right cause its just so inconvenient to use the voice dial right? People will complain about anything and everything these days. If you don't like it then go buy another phone. Whats done is done, complaining on MacRumors:Forums isn't going to get you anywhere.

Guys just use voice dial! You are honestly going to complain that you are losing the double tap favorites feature because of multitasking? It is a feature that has been requested for years and now we get it (kinda). I think we can all survive the loss of the favorites double tap. Besides, I'm pretty sure on 3GS and 4 users lose it since we have multitasking but voice dialing fixes that. 3G and 2G users can still have double tap for favorites.

I think it was Ellen Degeneres who said about cellphones while driving....."If you need both of your hands for whatever it is you're doing, then your brain should probably be in on it too."

I would like to know this too, anyone?

I need to be able to double click Home for the camera. WTF Apple??

This makes the phone less useful to me. Had I know I may not have upgraded.

I'm not Oprah and using a cellphone while driving is illegal in many states. I just hope the person that gets slammed by your car while you're busy on the phone sues your ass off.

no "using a cell phone" is not illegal in most states. holding a cell phone to your ear while driving is illegal. it is not illegal (in most cases) to initiate a call, then put the phone down and simply talk, via a hands-free device or bluetooth headset.

there may be exceptions; if so, then state them. but to simply say "using a cell phone" is illegal is incorrect and irresponsible.

if you're going to quote laws, be specific.

I've been talking/texting while driving since I got my license 5 years ago and have an absolutely flawless record, you just have to be smart about it.

+1

So glad they've changed double tap to multitasking only.
