Damn people, its BETA meaning still being worked on, not yet finished, more updates to come.... give it a little while to be fully developed then start bashing it. You can't call someone an ugly adult just by looking at their ultrasound picture.

Welcome to the internet.

If this was an Apple-branded application, it would support the iPhone and iPod. I'm guessing lack of support for these devices is the reason for the negative ratings.

It clearly states future support for those devices coming...it's a BETA. Again, if it was an Apple product that stated "future support for iphone/ipod", everyone would be cheering through the mountains.

I happen to be looking for an iTunes replacement right now (since iTunes seems to be doing everything in its power to piss me off lately), so this news was pretty timely for me. However, that video completely turned me off on the whole idea - not just from her patronizing tone of voice, but also because it's "as easy as just dragging files over."

I don't WANT to drag files over, I want to build a smart playlist which randomly selects albums for me to listen to. That's the one thing iTunes does really well.

I have a 120GB collection and never know what I want to listen to. Even the largest iPod Classic isn't a reasonable solution (especially since I like having phone+music in a single device).

No doubt that woman was PITA - app looks promising however.

Dreaming that that there will be a XBMC module for this for the :apple:tv at some point...

It took 10 minutes for them to send my confirmation e-mail on trying to set up an account and I am still waiting 30 minutes later for a link to a picture I sent to myself to arrive. Pretty but useless.

I´ll save my praises until iPhone support is added. As a media player/organiser it´s still very much a work in progress.

I think Jobs and Jon Lech had a conversation regarding this a couple of years ago (I´m pretty sure it was mentioned here on MR). Not sure how Apple regards this development, though. Had Apple launched similar sharing features in iTunes I´m pretty certain the record and movie companies would question the ease of which content can be shared, forcing Apple to either drop it or see all DRM free content drop from the iTunes store.

If Apple released a music/video app - even a beta - that did not support iPods and iPhones, I can pretty much guarantee that there would not be "cheering" on this forum.

MacRumors members never pass up an opportunity to bitch. Apple takes the brunt of it.

I will have to give this a shot.

I don't use iPhoto, so my knowledge of it is very limited. Does it allow for easy Flickr exportation?

Having not used it yet, I can't imagine any consumer-grade photo management app NOT easily supporting flickr, facebook, etc.
What would be the point? ;)

Ok so it does images, music and video...what about contacts and calenders? iSync is less then functional for many phones out there.

Jon Lech Johansen No Thank You

Did not like the lady presenting the app. In fact it is in keeping with Jon Lech Johansen approach, therefore totally apt.

I'll be ensuring I peddle my no vote to colleagues. I did not appreciate this guy's approach over last couple of years.

All iPods have an encrypted database so native syncing should be difficult w/o direct support of Apple. There are some workarounds on the Windows side but they include the involvement of itunes in one way or another.

Yeah, I don't get all the hate on the lady, but I did cut the video off about a minute before the end.

I LOVE this app. I plug in my Blackberry and drag a video over, and it is ready to use. No more goofing around with 8 million different settings in all sorts of programs hoping one keeps the video from jumping and the sound in sync. (An annoyance compounded with ever BB OS update, which seems to change the settings.) I tried a few videos and they were perfect. Great job, developers.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the point of DoubleSync is. It duplicates some of the functionality of iTunes. So I guess for people who don't like iTunes, that's a good thing. But the interface is so similar to iTunes, I'm not sure what the advantage is. I can drag and drop things into iTunes. Sure, some content I have to convert. But for me that's not too painful a process. Maybe DS is great for people who aren't so "geeky."

I do like being able to save YouTube videos directly to my hard drive and/or synched device. But there are also ways to do that easily as well. If I were to give up iTunes, then I'd definitely want a way to synch all my data, not just my media. So right now, I'll pass on DoubleSync.

No support for the Big 2, no sale.

Good job.

No support for the iPhone and iPod Touch . . . on an OS X app.

Beta or not . . . Bravo.

This day just keeps getting better. Safari 4 and now this...It's a good tuesday

Oh man - you sooo missed a "fat tuesday" (Mardi Gras today!) tie-in for the win! :)

Looks like a clean and very functional app. I didn't dl it upon first reading the article, but now I'm thinking about it now after reading some initial reviews. Though I'm not sure what I'll use it for...I only have ipods and iphone... and I try not to up original content to public sites like Facebook, myspace. They seem to have an ever fluctuating sense of copyright.

As for the lady... i did think mildly irritating manner...but I chalk that up to my general disdain for most humans...so really nothing new. :)

One last thing.... someone mentioned (Arn responded to the mention) something about streaming from their servers... This made me nervous becasue of the ever fluid terms of agreement regrading (C) I mentioned earlier and the very strong possibility that this will (possibly) become their revenue stream - ie: ads, service fee, subscriptions. etc, etc. And if I weren't to agree/pay/go along what happens to my content?

So, again.... maybe I will check it out but I'll mostly listen the droning webosphere.

I just tried it out myself, and it works well with my Nokia 6500, which is not an E series or N series "smartphone". Despite the annoying lady (please just get over it), it is a great piece of software. I, for sure, will install this for my dad, which will simplify his camera, blackberry and all BY FAR.

Thought I'd give it a try. It is a pretty cool app. I have a BB Storm. So I synced 2 movies to it and let it do the encoding. The result was unwatchable on the storm (well to me). The pic was dark, grainy and the ar was way out. I just dragged and dropped the movies I converted in VH onto the Storm and there was a huge difference in watchability, well for me.
