my guess is that ipods/iphones are supported but not included in the beta. When the app finalizes and we all have to pay for it and the service, it will support the 2 devices that 70% of the population own.

Not to impressed with the app or the service-don't really find that it does or make my life any easier than say, using iphoto/ilife.

Try dragging a YouTube URL from Safari/Firefox into the Library in the doubleTwist sidebar... Worked for me!

and so it does. Very nice. Dragging youtube url into the app puts the youtube video in your movies folder. And then you can drag that into your phone or whatever.

On Mac before Windows? Craziness!

lol

I was like geeky file formats? That's like saying "geeky car parts". I'm no mechanic but I knwo some basic parts, sheesh. :)

People like us who follow tech forums are but a fraction of the overall base of computer users. Even I would love to spend less time thinking about file formats... but for many others, that kind of technical nonsense is beside the point and of zero interest. Having it handled for them is the difference between actually doing something or not!

no phone or camera shows up under devices....

Have yet to try but looks promising!

This reminds me - while Snow Leopard is slated to be a more under-the-hood release (and I have heard nothing about the following), I can't help but expect iTunes to get a legit overhaul with or around 10.6 release.
There are so many 3rd party apps that are offering features iTunes users have been asking for. Ex: accessing your iTunes Library remotely (Simplify) seems a feature iTunes should add - making iPod/iPhone HD sizes moot when one can simply access their media remotely.

I don't know if Apple is feeling the pressure, but other developers are producing some real winners out there. Nice work all.
Exciting times, as usual.

well i did find my psp , not my ipone ipod or canon g 9 camera...

Well, as it says in the orig post, and many people have commented as being the biggest downfall of the app, DoubleTwist does not currently support the iPhone or iPod.

Since it is a beta, I would also suspect they do not have it working with all devices yet...

hmm, I don't think I want all my media in a single application. It makes sense to me to have separate apps for music/movies/photos etc. It's not like converging a phone and an ipod - there's really no extra inconvenience to having media in two separate apps, and in fact, I think it's easier that way.

As far as interfacing with handheld devices, that's cool, but call me when it supports the iphone.

edit: Ok, this

is pretty cool.

I like how this article has more negative feedback than positive. If this were an Apple branded application.....people would be praising it to no end. Sometimes, I hate being part of the cult.

mmm i wonder if they will add NAS devices also - say a HP Media Vault? bit of a pig mapping drives on my mac

that and safari 4 today mmm not bad

it does not find my ipone or anything i plug in :-(

If you sync your iPhone on your Mac it won't work. As the article states, The iPhone and iPod are not presently supported in the Mac version but support is coming in a future update.

Personally I really like the idea of this program. I'm trying to find a way to make a Mac Mini a media server where I can store all my music, movies, photos etc. so everyone in the house has easy access. This could be the program that lets me do this easily.

My God the woman in that video sounds patronising, you just want to kill her by the end of it. "Your AAAAAAAAALLLLL Set" what am? 2?!?! Im not learning how to tie my shoelaces!!

Just what I was thinking.

I'm encouraged by this. If it really is as easy as iTunes sync to an iPod, my next device may not have to be another iPod. There's a pleasing freedom in that.

i kinda like the idea of this app, but i'm struggling to think of a reason why i'd need to use it
but i can see that if you have a phone and/or a media player that isn't made by apple, it could be very useful - as it is, iphoto and itunes do all this for me already
should i ever need to send someone a video, though, then i think it might be useful - that's the only feature i think would actually be useful

will it rip dvds to video to load onto a psp? how long does it take to convert video formats?

If it could do the same with music (i mean extract the audio layer and save it as a mp3) i would love it :)

+1 !!!!!

Sorry for the double post, but he is so right! ;)

If this was an Apple-branded application, it would support the iPhone and iPod. I'm guessing lack of support for these devices is the reason for the negative ratings.

I might get this as an "iTunes for PSP" but my god, that voice over.

Also hope you can deactivate all that silly sharing stuff. I don't want to see feeds of what my friends are up to. Thats what Facebook is for...

"send to anyone in the world!", welcome to the internet, 1996.

I'm a fan of DVD Jon's. I realize some of his work is used for "nefarious purposes"; but that's not why he developed his tools. He's helped give us the freedom to make backups of our DVDs - which is supposed to be legal anyway - and (more importantly to me) to make copies in digital form for use on, say, a server streaming video to, say, a Tivo HD. :D He's also tried to make it possible (and easy) for Linux users to use the iTunes store and purchase music.

Thanks Jon! I will be checking out this app soon.

Am I the only one who can't find a use for this?

It seems like people are gushing over something that simply takes one or two steps out of the tasks they're already accustomed to.

Some of us like 'geeky file formats', and we like having control over the quality of video we export.
