Another perspective is that it should not be allowed to be posted under the idea that it constitutes part of pre-release software, which is not allowed to be distributed under the license terms.
its likey just BS since there are so many of these zebra threads im sure it would of been posted already, the ML outter space wall was posted within minutes of the first Developer Preview
Oh my god !! Is this for real ? Was that released in the very recent update tp DP4 ? Lol and Steve Bloom thinks he is kind by giving us for free a low Rez watermarked photo !
Terms and conditions
The image of swirling Zebras (image ref 002330-SB2) is the copyrighted intellectual property of Steve Bloom and may be stored on your own personal computer, tablet or smartphone only as a wallpaper or screensaver, and may not be altered, distributed, disseminated or made available to any third party in any form by any means, including print or internet.
The topic is not debatable.
First while the image is included in Mountain Lion, OSX 10.8 is pre-release and as per apple's terms is not distributable. In fact legal users of 10.8 agree to an NDA before being permitted to access the beta.
Secondly the copyright owner Steve Bloom has the following terms.
The issue is cut and dry; the terms and conditions set by Apple and Steve Bloom prohibit dissemination of the image.
sounds more protected than the mona lisa![]()
To be honest, I don't get the allure. Its just a picture of zebras.
Since its in DP4, there's good reason that we'll see it in the public release of 10.8 and everyone who has a retina MBP will have their zebra wallpaper then.

I'm just happy that there is something else I like (Zebra wallpaper) so I don't have to see those wallpapers about Space and Galaxy.

Low res nastiness, and you're right about that HUGE watermark, waste of time.
the retina has been out for 1 week and now the 1440x900 res thats served 15" MBPs for years is low res nastiness?
Exactly what I was thinking when I looked at this thread! It's just Zebras!
Yes, I grew up in South Africa and there are lots of zebras there. They are just ugly horses and once you have seen one herd in a game reserve you don't even bother slowing down for the next herd. Boring, boring animal. Lions are cool; zebras are not.

To those who are currently using the zebra wallpaper on their Retina Pro, do you find that the image is a bit low res? (not talking about the download, I mean the one that comes with DP4).
From a distance it looks great but as I get closer I find that the image isn't very crisp. I have no such issues with the other preinstalled wallpapers though.
1440x900 has been a below average resolution for a 15" screen for several years now...
I agree, this Zebra wallpaper on my iMac is blurry, not very crisp. Doing a few things to it under PhotoShop makes it better.
*lol* You mean probably, that a simple google search makes a discussion superfluous. The topic is not debatable.
Everyone can download the DP4. That is a fact. Just use google. So the wallpaper is already available. If you use it now or in 30 days (official release date) is not important. The issue is cut and dry; the terms and conditions set by Apple and Steve Bloom prohibit dissemination of the image.
