Ah, okay. Not just me then. I wonder if Apple are going to update it in the GM, or if this is the largest image they have?

Well the photo is a massive file, with a resolution up to 3200px, but I found it hard that they used it to show off a Retina MacBook if it is so blurry.

If you some some killer original photos for free, up to 24MP, go to Trey Ratliff's site http://www.stuckincustoms.com

His HDR photography is stunning and he doesn't charge for downloads, even the full size images.

Here is a sample, I've been using it as a wallpaper for a while and just about everyone asks about it. Be prepared to spend a lot of time on his site if you like photography or collect great wallpapers!

Thanks mate, stunning photos, extremely high resolutions, no watermark, perfect for wallpapers ;)

That's what I thought too. It's considerably blurrier than all of the other preinstalled backgrounds. Not a big deal, I just hope they stick in a clearer/higher res image eventually.

Sigh. The entitlement of some people here is hard to stomach. That photo wasn't easy to make. Let's just ignore the camera and all the other hardware he needs just to make photos. For this specific photo he needs plane tickets to some place that has zebras, probably a hotel and he has to rent a helicopter, probably several times for the right weather and the right shot.

He is obviously not going to give it to you for free if you ask him. No sane person would do that.

Yep... Just wait until mountain lion, if the wallpaper is still included in that. $20 and you get a free new OS thrown in :p

Don't worry, I'll find some other way to find it. ;)

People and organizations who are unnecessarily protective of that stuff even after receiving a large check from Apple deserve it. I'll pay my royalties when I buy ML, but for now it'll be a pirate for me.

So the image will be in ML? That means millions of users will have it for free. And the dude still charges money for it? LOL.

L.E. I opened the 1440 version. Looks like crap, seriously. Not that sharp and the colors are a little off. Don't know why so many people want it.

If you were the author of that photo do you think you'd want people just grabbing it for free. Plus he probably has some contract with Apple. It's his job as an artist. It's how he pays his bills and feeds his family.

I plan on paying for it with ML, and the image is floating around the Internet anyways. No one's losing any profit here. I don't adhere to weird copyright situations like that, the image is completed and I am going to pay for it therefore I will grab it now and pay for it at the first available opportunity. It's going to be displayed on my personal computer in a room where no one else goes but me. No harm to the artist paying his bills.

The thing I like least about this picture is that the zebra's are running away from the helicopter which is causing the grass to be flattened. It does not show the majestic zebra in all its natural grace. Also, there are a billion better things to have as a background. I personally love the Andromeda background.

I clearly understand by buying ML it pays for it. I'm just saying this is why they don't probably want it all over the internet because there is people who don't use mac and or maybe might not even buy ML.

Obviously it's near impossible to avoid a leak of the image.

He charges money for it because even with it being included with ML, you still cannot use it for any kind of published work.

Then pirate it. But don’t act all entitled.

ironically I dont care for the image; when some actually grow up and get into the real world, and something similar negatively impacts them financially then and only then, will they wake up.

If an image, app, idea, design, thesis is taken by another it`s simply common theft, the fact it`s not tangible is completely academic. For any looking to follow a professional career this is lesson best learnt sooner, rather than later.

Copy away, however it`s simply a stament of an individuals low morals, and as they say "what comes around, goes around"

I've got the zebra fever! Anyone willing to DM me the Zebras wallpaper with a DP for personal use only of course?

Guys, I think you're all forgetting, the issue is not only with this Steve guy being greedy, we need to show some respect for the poor Zebras who get no compensation for such a clear intrusion of privacy rights.

Yeah how are those zebras getting paid? After all they bared their butt on camera so we can enjoy on our 2880x1800 screen

So I thought the wallpaper came with the DP4 of ML?

Surely those posted on flickr can't be the sharpest, highest quality images? I really wouldn't pay $50 for them!

ANyone got a high quality one?

I have DP4 and the Zebra wallpaper came up at a resolution of 3200 by whatever pixel, but it is blurry, literally crap.

It is slightly blurry on my screen but mine just shows zebras- I'd check whether or not you're using the correct image if it is literally crap :p
