Saw this comment on 9to5Mac and thought that it was great.
"After paying billions for Beats it’s clear Apple is struggling to find things for “Dr. Dre” to do at their company. Firing him would be a PR disaster, might even lead to a lawsuit. So it appears they’ll just play the role of an expensive daycare and let him play all day, making worthless content that no one wants."
The only thing that's worthless is the comment. Despite my misgivings about Apple continuing to associate him with their brand due to his past personal behavior and alleged violent crimes, he's been hugely, hugely successful in both his art and his business. He's a very smart guy. The daycare comment is pretty insulting. There's a ton of people that do want his content. Whether Apple wants to associate itself with decadent rap lifestyle is a different question.
One reason why this is more risky than Netflix or Amazon producing shows is that those shows are purely fictional. They're self-contained pieces of artistic content. But this rumored TV show is based on real life events by an executive at Apple. That feels like too much exposure to criticism of the company itself.
